Flashpoint Phase 2 groups determined

Flashpoint has revealed the group pairings and the opening match-ups for Phase 2 of the league.

The group selection show, which was held online and off-stream this time due to the coronavirus pandemic, began with the group winners of Phase 1, Cloud9, MAD Lions and MIBR, being split into three groups and picking their first opponent.

The selection process continued with the captains of the teams who were most recently assigned choosing a team into their groups - a process that was repeated until all groups were complete.

The teams who were selected last then had the option to swap teams between two groups (subject to veto) or to swap the positions of two teams within their group, this way changing the match-up of a first round.

All eyes will be on Group C, featuring two of the three highest-ranked teams still in attendance, Gen.G and MIBR, as well as the veterans of Dignitas. Elsewhere, the Swole Patrol lineup will make its debut for FunPlus Phoenix in Flashpoint against c0ntact, while Cloud9 and Envy will face off in a North American showdown.

Flashpoint Phase 2 will run from March 27 to April 6 and will feature a double-elimination, best-of-three format. At the end of this stage, the points will be tallied up, and the top eight teams from the first two stages will progress to the playoffs.
