HAVU eliminate Gen.G in Flashpoint 1 to book lower bracket final spot
HAVU came back from an overtime loss on Mirage to dominate Gen.G on the next two maps and lock down a spot in the lower bracket final of Flashpoint Season 1.
HAVU and Gen.G squared off in a match for a spot in the lower bracket final, with the Finns looking to bounce back from a defeat to MIBR in the upper bracket semi-final, and the North Americans surviving a lower bracket scare againt FunPlus Phoenix in the previous round. After a closely-contested Mirage, HAVU pulled ahead in the series, dominating on Dust2 and Nuke to eliminate Gen.G and book their place in the lower bracket final, in which they will face the winner of the series between Cloud9 and Orgless.
A quad kill in the opening pistol from Aaro "hoody" Peltokangas earned HAVU an early 2-0 start on the defensive side of Mirage before Gen.G picked up five rounds. The North Americans' offence fell flat moving forward as HAVU shut down Gen.G time and again to claim a 9-6 halftime advantage.

HAVU continued to build on their score as the two teams swapped sides, with the Finns locking down three straight rounds to extend their lead to 12-6. A subsequent triple kill from Timothy "autimatic" Ta secured Gen.G their first CT round, with the North American squad then posting seven of the following eight rounds to take the lead. HAVU responded with two rounds of their own and found themselves on the cusp of victory, but a heroic triple kill from Sam "s0m" Oh with just a CZ-75 in hand, rounded out by a Kenneth "koosta" Suen 1v1 clutch, forced overtime.
Gen.G and HAVU were locked in a stalemate in the first overtime, with flawless CT halves coming out from both teams. However, Damian "daps" Steele’s men stepped up to the plate in the second overtime, closing out the map 22-20.
HAVU hit a higher gear on their map pick of Dust2, with a Joonas "doto" Forss triple kill in the Terrorist pistol kicking off a commanding run of nine consecutive rounds as the Finnish side out-duelled the Gen.G players across the board. A 1v1 clutch from autimatic eventually secured his side their first round, but very little improvement was made in the remainder of the map as Gen.G could only salvage a 3-12 half, with the map soon concluding 16-7 in HAVU’s favour.
Nuke played host to the decider, where Gen.G opened up their T side account with a pistol victory. An outrageous quad kill from Eetu "sAw" Saha with the CZ-75 snatched the following round from the North Americans' grasp to give HAVU control of proceedings in a half that ended with a 12-3 score. The Finns faced little resistance as the match progressed, with a short spell of success at the beginning of the second half all Gen.G could muster as HAVU, comparably to Dust2, ran away with the map.
