FaZe extend unbeaten run in ESL One: Road to Rio

FaZe remain undefeated in ESL One: Road to Rio - Europe with a dominant 2-0 victory over GODSENT to go 5-0 in Group B.

The first and second-place place teams in Group B went head-to-head in an important match for both squads, with FaZe looking to add to their unbeaten record and extend their lead at the top of the group, while GODSENT aimed to build on their great start to the tournament after previously beating c0ntact and the Danish duo of North and Copenhagen Flames.

Marcelo "coldzera" David kicked off Overpass with a triple kill on the CT pistol, with FaZe storming to a 9-0 lead off the back of it. GODSENT finally found success as they posted back-to-back rounds and began to close the score difference, but a stunning performance from Helvijs "broky" Saukants, who reached 18 kills before his first death, saw the Latvian AWPer continuously shut down the offensive side to lead FaZe to a 12-3 halftime advantage and to a 16-6 map victory shortly afterward.

coldzera and broky led the charge for FaZe

The first half of Nuke proved to be a much closer affair than Overpass as both teams enjoying periods of success throughout. A 4-1 start from GODSENT was quashed swiftly by FaZe as Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and co. locked down a six-round streak. However, a quad kill from Martin "STYKO" Styk put a stop to FaZe’s dominance and turned the tide back in favour of GODSENT, who ended the half with a narrow 8-7 lead.

GODSENT struggled to string rounds together as they swapped to the T side, with numerous multi-kills from coldzera ensuring FaZe stayed ahead of their opponents. Three sporadic rounds were all GODSENT could muster as FaZe closed out the map, 16-11, to keep a flawless record before their final matches against Copenhagen Flames and c0ntact.

Thats why I said you have to watch the games and not just look at the stats. Niko gets a lot of opening kills so he has an outsized impact. His performance drops in the 2nd half of the game every single time.

Is true that COLDZERA is stepping up, but NiKo isn't disappearing. Niko is just letting his team step up cause when NiKo has to frag he frags with no problem at all, but cold broky and olof are fragging while rain still struggles a little bit but not that bad.

Why are we even having this conversation? They are clearly looking way better than they did previously, and you can't just say that "oh this player is bottom fragging" because they all have roles. Broky has huge impact with the AWP, Olof's lurks and smart play are huge, Cold's multi-kills and clutch ability is impactful, NiKo's opening kills and overall impact is great. Rain is also crucial to this team, many pro players say that they would love to play with Rain again, such as Karrigan and GuardiaN. They say that he is a player who is willing to do anything for the team. We can see that in FaZe's games he may not be doing the best Stat Wise, the fact that he is playing some of the harder roles and still having a 1.10 Rating is Insane. This FaZe looks incredible!

I agree with u, this faze team seems a top 5 contender and slowly but surely are climbing in the ranking. NiKo has been improving his IGLing and olof his lurking role, so tbh, if they win this ESL RtR Tournament(the qualifier, not the major) would mean so much.

Niko never disappears he has the most impact even when he is igling. U gotta be trolling if u think niko isnt the best faze player. I mean stats speak for themselves #32 and #39 niko and cold have similar KDR but large difference in rating. Thats because niko is more impactful than cold. He plays more aggressive than cold. And he doesnt bait like cold.

please explain why they won more trophies with this version of mouz then the previous although the old one being better in your opinion. Mouz won one of the biggest tournaments of the year with this lineup. ESL pro leauge S10. All the big teams were there. And i admit: I also like the styko, sunny, oskar lineup better, but not because they were better, but because of the personality of the team

Last time on LAN was katowice where they almost make it to the play offs where they almost beat na'vi. So idk what u talking about, if we talk about results then yes, faze hasn't shown great results in LAN, but in terms of team play and skill they have shown by far that they stopped being inconsistent. While G2 showed once good results and also showed how inconsistent they are and sometimes depend on Kennys godlike plays.

IDK if mouz will dominate, but if they come with fresh ideas they will for sure deserve the top 5. For now they are in risk of 2 things: getting out of the major qualifiers(atleast this RtR) and getting out of top 5. Btw, with what i said on #114 i wanna add that faze doesnt get a lot of ranking points with online wins so they gotta win a lot of matches to reach top 5, for now they shownn that they deserve the top 5 spot. Is true that in LAN they didnt achieve a lot and i agree with u, but it was because of mistakes that they lately(sadly after coronavirus) fixed, and im saying this cause coldzera said in a youtube video of his channel that they had beenn working in their mistakes and stuff and they keep working since i see NiKo more than never focusing on his IGL role and u can see it by letting cold, olof, rain and broky frag godlikely when they need.

Dude, whats the point on winning on LAN a match when u are a fluke? Look at fnatic, look at na'vi, look at mouz and look at G2. This 4 teams have a same thing, they are struggling against tier 3 teams, so whats the point of achievements throughout this 4 months of tournaments if u will not participate of the major? Faze arent onliners, they just started to practice after katowice since olof said he was upset and pretty disappointed with his stats on the katowice run.
