Astralis to sign JUGi - Report

According to a report by TV2.dk, Jakob "⁠JUGi⁠" Hansen will be joining Astralis as the Danish team looks to expand its roster.

The news follows a report from earlier this week by DBLTAP.com, which noted that Astralis are "exploring the possibility of adding at least one more player" to their roster. Astralis announced a roster expansion to six players back in March, after reaching an agreement with Patrick "⁠es3tag⁠" Hansen, but are potentially looking to go up to eight.

JUGi is set to bolster the ranks of Astralis

As es3tag is only set to become a part of Astralis after his contract with HEROIC runs out at the end of June, JUGi is seemingly going to join the team first, as the 23-year-old AWPer is a free agent and is "joining the team with immediate effect", according to the report.

JUGi has been a free agent since the end of April, when his contract with North ran out. Earlier in his career, he also represented OpTic, but has never been able to replicate the form he showed early on in his career, in Heroic and Tricked.

If the report is confirmed, Astralis would have the following roster:

They talked about it on Zulu, the Danish TV channel that shows CS GO live. This new experiment of Astralis has been made, because zonic probably believe, he can turn jugi into another device, so they can easily swap between them for the future. Meanwhile they will train magisk in some of gla1ves roles, specifically the ingame leader, which make room for esetag to learn magisk, xyp9x and dupreeh's roles, so they can change whenever they want, without having to actually make any structural or tactical changes. It's gonna be very exciting.

I think it's only a question about how much jugi is willing to learn, and to be honest, early in his career he was very promising, so if he gets polished by the best coach and ingameleader in the world, I truly believe it could happen. And about magisk being on pair with glaive it's a hard one, but he has been playing with him for a long time, and with zonic by his side, he probably could excel too. Only time will tell, I guess.

So will the main 5 get to play in the majors or if JUGI is playing better than dev1ce JUGI gets play the major, I also dont know if es3tag and JUGI and anyone else they bring in will be necessarily happy with this, I mean if it were me I'd rather be a full time player on tier 2-3 team than be basically a stand in for a top 5 team

Yeah but it's still Astralis. The biggest team in the world, start from the bottom aim at the top. Perform better and you can have a shot, who knows maybe X9pyx or dupreeh would average 0.85 rating in the next three months. Astralis sure as hell can take the 20% point reduction hit for changing a lineup in RtR. Not like they can do much in the major while they're in Heroic or North anyway. It's like saying I rather play for the New York Knicks since I can't make the playoff roster at LA Lakers. Or like saying I rather play at Norwich since I can't make it to the starting line up of Liverpool in the champions league. I mean, I understand if they're from Mouz or Faze but one is in a team that's never been to a major and the other was just fired in North. Being a backup player (with full wages) in Astralis is a hell of an upgrade
