Official: Bymas to stand in for FaZe

FaZe have confirmed the addition of Aurimas "⁠Bymas⁠" Pipiras on a stand-in basis.

The 16-year-old effectively replaces Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer on the roster, after the Swede announced on Saturday that he had decided to take a break to recover from fatigue and to regain motivation.

Bymas lacks in experience on the international scene, with no matches against top-30 teams on record on HLTV.org. The Lithuanian recently gained some notoriety when now teammate Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač put him in the spotlight by picking the Lithuanian as his "Bold prediction" in the Top 20 players of 2019 series after watching Bymas play in FPL, where he placed first and third in October and November, respectively.

Bymas' stand-in stint with FaZe will begin in DreamHack Masters Spring

FaZe are utilizing a similar strategy they employed late last year when they decided to trial Helvijs "⁠broky⁠" Saukants, who was also a largely unknown quantity, albeit more experienced than Bymas at the time thanks to a half-year tenure with Epsilon.

The announcement comes just a few hours ahead of Bymas' debut with FaZe in DreamHack Masters Spring Europe's Group C. The European side will first face GODSENT in the opening match on Monday at 17:30 , with encounters against Spirit and fnatic set to follow on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

Should his time with the team last long enough, the Lithuanian youngster will have plenty of opportunities to show his worth. After the conclusion of DreamHack Masters Spring, FaZe will immediately start their campaign in BLAST Premier Spring Europe Finals, and they're also playing in the Gamers Without Borders charity event on May 29-31.

With Bymas' addition, FaZe's lineup looks as follows:
