FaZe lock first place in DH Masters Group C to move on to upper bracket
With a close 2-0 victory over fnatic, FaZe have secured a flawless record in Group C of DreamHack Masters Spring - Europe to book their ticket in the upper bracket semi-finals.
Having taken down Spirit and GODSENT in closely-contested matches beforehand, the European mixture passed their hardest test so far after the loss of Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer as they locked their third consecutive victory with stand-in Aurimas "Bymas" Pipiras in the DreamHack Masters Spring group stage.
fnatic's fate in the tournament is now out of their hands after the Swedes won just one in three matches, against GODSENT. Their future depends on the result of the last match of the group between Kevin "kRYSTAL" Amend's team and Spirit, who defeated fnatic 2-0, which puts the Swedes in danger of losing a potential three-way tie between the three teams and get eliminated should GODSENT come out victorious.

FaZe chose Dust2 to kick off the series and went on to grab an early lead after their stand-in, Bymas, put up three kills in the opening pistol round. The first gunrounds were in fnatic's hands as the Swedes strung six in a row on the defense, but in the end just one round separated the two teams when a couple of B hits helped FaZe even things out.
When sides switched, fnatic looked in control, but when they reached 14 rounds they hit a wall. With Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and Marcelo "coldzera" David finding openings with their AWPs, FaZe brought the map back from the brink of defeat and chained six rounds together to pick up a 16-14 victory.
The Swedish giants looked to strike back on Overpass, where they got off to a great start after converting Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin's entries into a pistol round victory and eventually a 5-1 lead. FaZe managed to stop the rot early, though, defending the B bombsite a couple of times in a row and dominating the rest of the half, with fnatic only being able to add one more round to their tally on the back of a 2v4 from Robin "flusha" Rönnquist and Brollan.
The Swedes went on to regain the lead as Brollan's pistol heroics were on display again, but their advantage was soon gone when FaZe started outplaying the rotation game with a couple of well-executed fakes and went on to grab a 14-11 lead. It appeared fnatic would pull off the comeback when they managed to force the European mixture on pistols after clinching two consecutive rounds, but a Deagle buy saw FaZe reach match point and close the series at 16-13.
