Vitality foil hampus' debut in one-sided victory over NiP

Vitality beat Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-0 in Hampus "hampus" Poser's debut to earn their first DreamHack Masters Spring points.

Ninjas in Pyjamas’s DreamHack Masters Spring opener marked hampus’s first official match with the team since taking over in-game leadership from Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson, who was placed on the bench and transfer-listed. The Swedes did well in the pistol rounds, winning three out of four, but were unable to put forth a strong showing on either of the maps played as Vitality were in control of proceedings during the entirety of the match, sailing to a 2-0 victory.

hampus got three kills in his first round with Ninjas in Pyjamas as the Swedish side took a 1-0 lead on the attacking side of Vertigo, but a triple by Richard "shox" Papillon on the following round thwarted Ninjas in Pyjamas's efforts earlly on tying it up 1-1. Fredrik "REZ" Sterner and company were able to win a forcebuy of their own to keep it tight early on, but unable to sustain momentum, it was Vitality who set the pace of the half, going on to win all but one round to make it 12-3.

Ninjas in Pyjamas kept their hopes alive winning the CT side pistol round as well as the anti-eco, although they were unable to bag the crucial first gun round. The Swedes denied Vitality match point when down 5-14, but another triple by shox rounded out by a 1vs2 clutch by Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut put the French team one round away from winning the Ninjas’ map pick, which they were able to do two rounds later, 16-7.

Vitality picked up their first DreamHack Masters Spring win against NiP

Ninjas in Pyjamas were once again able to take a pistol round, this time on the CT side of Dust2, as REZ took out three with USP headshots, but they were unable to follow it up. Despite giving up the two following rounds, Ninjas in Pyjamas didn’t let Vitality run away, winning the first gun round to keep it a close 2-3 before tying it up with a successful B retake in the sixth round. Just like on Vertigo, however, the French team then took control of the half, running away with a large lead, ending 11-4.

Vitality finally won their first pistol round of the match and the anti-eco that followed without giving up a bomb plant and only losing two players. Ninjas in Pyjamas then lost the first buy round, once again without planting, as Vitality hit map and series point at 15-4. hampus then found himself in a 1vs3 afterplant situation on A, but was unable to convert on the disadvantageous situation as Vitality emerged victorious, 16-4.

Its gonna get worst. The only thing NiP had for them was firepower. I think even Lekr0 fans agree but he wasn't a true IGL. He stepped up to the team and pretty much sacrificed his career. But he was still good, one of the best. The scoreboard usually looked like: 1. F0rest 2. REZ 3. Lekr0 4. Plopski/Dennis 5. GTR And keep in mind he was still leading the team, and honestly he did a pretty good job at it. You would watch them play and the team worked pretty well. GTR got information and caught the other team off guard. And you had a pretty good AWPer in F0rest. And Pistol rounds were almost a guarantee with Dennis and F0rest. And REZ was a godly entry. And even with all this Lekr0 still made a name for himself, and kicked ass. -Dennis + Plopski - GTR + Twist You had a young gun star in Plopski and a dedicated AWPer (F0rest never wanted to be the main AWPer) Plopski still shines, and often would top frag. Still even through all this you could see the lack of a true IGL. Thats been NiPs problem for a long time, a REAL IGL. Last time they had one was Xizt, and that was over 2 years ago. What I'm trying to say it that NiP relied on individual brilliance. They, on paper, were just 5 fraggers. When F0rest left they added another young gun star, and the individualism in the team went up even further. This team has always been a team that wasn't as structured as others. Even when they had the real IGL in Xizt, he had a loose calling, so even then it was still lacking structure. Now without Lekr0, you have Hampus. He has a structured calling system, which hasn't been seen since Fifflaren. And you have all these guys who have played with loose calling, or sometimes no calling at all. From as far as I can see, NiP can only go down from here unless they do another huge roster move. I'll compare them to other Swedish teams. Fnatic isn't a team built on star players, that is why Xizts stint with Fnatic didn't work out. It was polar opposite. They are a structured and organized team but with pillars of skill, like Brollan. Thats why they are a top team, they are very organized team because of golden but they still have players who can hold their own against the best, like Brollan, Krimz, and JW. Dignitas, who is honestly toned of a team to classify, but they are a team built on experience. I like to think of them as a team better than Vitality but with a worst carry if that makes sense. They are a semi-structured team, they have great teamwork and communication but are built around guys like Hallzerk and F0rest getting openings. NiP is none of this, I don't see them improving any time soon.

I mean it's still really early and I would've been surprised if they were on top form. Vitality has been getting better and better and they seem to be really Good now. Hampus has been making a name for himself and deserves a shot at big swedish org. Sure, they are not that top tier team. But except for Twist they are all young guns and could possibly become that team in the future. Sure removing Lekro was a wierd move. But from what you're saying I could actually understand NiPs move even better. Sad for Lekro though.

Truth is Lekr0 sacrificed himself to IGL for NiP and he gets kicked for it. He wasnt even the worst performer there whilst he was IGL... only reason he took on the IGL role was because Denis didnt want to do it although that was the reason NiP bought him in. Lekr0 got screwed by trying to help NiP and I feel for him. Reminds me of ENCE and well they went to shit after kicking their IGL.

As I said in the post, signing hampus of all people is very strange, his IGL style is completely different from anything NiP had since Fifflaren, and none of these guys have ever played with Fiff in their lives. I just find it strange. And I'm not just saying this out of spite because I'm a Lekr0 fan haha. I think everyone agrees that Lekr0 is better than Hampus individually, that isn't really a debate. And IGL style will hella hurt them short term, you could only hope it works long term. REZ, Plopski, Twist, and Nawwk would have too pretty much change their play styles due to the new way the team will operate, and as far as I can see it should hurt all of them.

Yea, NiP must have brought Hampus in to expect him doing something else then just so what Threat tells him too. The point is that Hampus is supposed to bring something to the team. Plopski and Rez are sick aimers though, Nawwk is really good too. It really is too early to say anything about this team and what impact Hampus will have. But it's obvious that it Will take some time for them to "recover"

I can understand both sides but from my point of view this was just bad. I think that, eventhough twist does perform on occasion, it would be a better move to kick him instead of Lekro. You could have a more experienced player in the team and with him being igl for as long as he was i think that its nice to have a second voice that may just make that one call that will save the round. I think it would also be good for nawwk to be main awp because he is obviously very talented and i think that he may just become that next swedish awp. I have been first introduced to competitive cs in 2015. A time where Nip were struggling so hard and they just kept rolling downhill but i still followed through with them because atleast they tried to fix it but now they just broke a running machine. Its like they were on there way up the mountain and suddenly they fell into a ravine and just got stuck. I think it is way to early to judge them just like with alex and misutaa in vitality where to my understanding people to this day think that it was a really bad move but vitality has really been going uphill as of late and i just hope that it will be the same with nip and hampus.

Hardly ever comment on This site . Good guessing and speculation get you a bit on the way. :) A New system with structure and mid round calling will come from this. It is not a Quick fix. I would say it will take 6-12 months to get Threats system into the team and for hampus to work his mid round calling magic.

Try a new IGL? Why not. But havnt ENCE/Faze teached the cs teams anything? You dont kick a good IGL. They should have kept lekro or taken the opportunity to create a 6 man roster. And i dont buy the "he was not a real IGL". Bullshit. Lekro was a pretty good igl and good fragger. Hampus is not a magical fairty igl in comparison. Lekro has been calling a top team for a pretty long time now. Ofcourse he is a REAL igl.
