xeta retires from CS:GO

Seon-Ho "⁠xeta⁠" Son is the latest player to move on from Counter-Strike to focus on Riot’s new FPS game, VALORANT.

xeta first appeared on the radar at the PGL KeSPA Regional Minor Championship Asia, which he played with m0nster in 2016. In early 2018 he moved to GOSU, where he signed his first professional contract as a Counter-Strike player, but only remained there briefly as MVP PK, the best team in the country at the time, called him up in June of that same year. During his time in Korea’s top side he attended three Big Events: IEM Chicago 2018, IEM Sydney 2019 and ESL One Cologne 2019.

xeta crossed borders at the beginning of 2020, moving on to TYLOO. He played IEM Katowice 2020 with the Chinese squad, ending in 13-16th place, but was put on the bench in April upon his return to South Korea from the team’s gaming house in Kiev in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

The 23-year-old has now revealed he will move on from Counter-Strike, parting ways with TYLOO and refocusing his career on VALORANT, Riot's recently launched FPS game.

“Im officially moving to VALORANT," xeta said in a statement on Twitter, "even though I couldn't achieve a Major or make playoffs at a big LAN, it was a pleasure to meet all around the world and to participate in tournaments. Thanks to these experiences I have nothing but good memories [...] thanks again for cheering for me! See you in VALORANT."
