Chaos, TeamOne, New England Whalers advance to cs_summit 6 North America Regional Qualifier

A Joshua "⁠steel⁠" Nissan-less Chaos, TeamOne, and New England Whalers fought their way through the cs_summit 6 North America open qualifier to earn spots in the closed stage.

Close to 150 teams took part in the open bracket for North America, vying for one of three spots on offer in the Regional Qualifier that is scheduled to run from June 22-23. Chaos claimed the No. 1 seed in the bracket draw, but were left without in-game leader steel as matches got underway due to his ban from Valve events.

The absence of the Canadian captain proved to have little effect on the Chaos roster, who made short work of their opponents with best-of-one victories early on in the bracket with their coach Matthew "⁠mCe⁠" Elmore in tow. Their quarter and semi-final match-ups against blood, sweat, and tears and Levitate also offered little contest as Erick "⁠Xeppaa⁠" Bach led the way for his side, followed closely by his teammates and coach stand-in, who posted a 1.27 rating over four maps to help Chaos qualify.

TeamOne also fared well early on, swiftly pushing past their opposition to meet Recon 5 in the quarter-finals. After dispatching of Jason "⁠neptune⁠" Tran and company in a two-map series, the Brazilian roster were forced to pull off a pair of comebacks against New England Whalers on Inferno and Overpass, where they narrowly stole 19-17 overtime victories to secure their closed qualifier berth.

After finding themselves unable to score wins over Chaos and TeamOne, Levitate and New England Whalers faced off in a third-place decider match for the final spot in the closed stage. An early victory on Inferno put Levitate ahead to kick off the match, but New England Whalers rallied back by scoring wins on Overpass and Nuke to reverse-sweep the series.
