G2, FaZe miss out on cs_summit 6 playoffs

Two of the top three teams in the world fell short on the final day of the group stage in the European RMR tournament.

The group stage of cs_summit 6's European division came to a close on Sunday, with two giants stumbling once again. G2 and FaZe, No.1 and No.3 in the world respectively, will not be fighting for the grand prize in next week's double-elimination playoffs after losing in the group stage's decider phase, but this is not the end of the road for them just yet: they will be taking part in a mini-tournament with the rest of the third-placed teams for the chance to get up to an additional 375 RMR points.

G2, who had dropped down to Group A's lower bracket following a surprise 0-2 loss to GODSENT, were unable to repeat their opening match victory against fnatic as they were defeated by the Swedes in a two-map series. It is the second consecutive tournament in which Nemanja "nexa" Isaković's troops could not live up to their ranking after they crashed out of the BLAST Premier Spring Europe Finals in 5th-6th place.

FaZe were no match for BIG once again

FaZe endured another tough afternoon against BIG as they recorded their fourth consecutive 0-2 loss to the German side. After losing Mirage picks in the previous two encounters, FaZe decided to choose Dust2, but the outcome was the same. The DreamHack Masters Spring Europe champions then ran amok on Nuke, taking their record on the map to six consecutive wins, four of which without letting their opponents get to double-digits.

Meanwhile, North moved past Movistar Riders in convincing fashion, with team captain Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen posting a series-high 1.42 rating, while HEROIC ran out 2-1 victors in the Nordic clash against ENCE following dominant wins on Nuke and Mirage.

cs_summit 6 will continue on Monday with the double-elimination playoffs, which will culminate in a best-of-five grand final scheduled for Sunday, July 5. The winner of the tournament will secure 2000 RMR points and $34,000, while the runner-up will earn 1875 points and $22,000.

Below you can find the match-ups for the playoffs:

Can someone explain to me how any side can pick dust2 against BIG? I can't even remember when BIG lost their last dust2 match, they completely destroyed G2, Faze (multiple times), NaVi, Fnatic, mouz... this is probably BIG's best map atm. I don't get it.

Either Online Mode is BS, or the current rankings are BS, or Olofmeister needs to come back sooner otherwise BIG might knock out Faze from the major

G2 is a good team, however this tournament proves that they don't deserve to be called no.1. FaZe can be solid in this TOP 5 still, I don't think this tournament is that bad of a showing, they lost 2 times to BIG, who are just better team than them rn.

I'm not talking about who I actually think is top1 But because vitality is 6 points away from top1 (g2) and g2 lost several matches while vitality (so far) played flawlessly their form points will most definitely increase enough so that they will get top1 tomorrow

The matches count on "form points" (20% of the rankings) But it's true it counts nothing on "achievement points" (50% of the rankings) until the tournament is over

Ofcourse... fnatic vs NiP is always the first match-up in playoffs.. Why can’t they just play separate and face eachother later?
