Liquid stop winless streak against FURIA to move on to cs_summit 6 playoffs
Liquid can celebrate their first victory in 2020 against FURIA as they eliminated the Brazilian side from cs_summit 6 and secured a spot in the playoffs.
The North American side finally found an answer to the Brazilians, who had been a huge thorn in Nick "nitr0" Cannella's team's side until now as the two sides faced for the seventh time in just the last three months, with Liquid turning around the winless streak with a convincing victory on two maps.
With the win, Liquid have set up an encounter with 100 Thieves in the upper bracket semi-finals, a matchup in which Keith "NAF" Markovic & co. will be massively favored as they won all 11 maps the two sides have played against one another since mid-2019.
FURIA's campaign at the summer Regional Major Ranking event ends with the Brazilian team's first early exit in an otherwise impressive run throughout the last four months, during which Andrei "arT" Piovezan's men placed at least in the top-three of seven consecutive regional competitions.

With a fifth-place decider (with an extra 125 points on offer) still yet to be played between them and the losing side of the Gen.G and Cloud9 matchup, FURIA could be at risk of dropping out of the top-five of the North American ranking, where the Brazilians currently sit in fifth place below Liquid, 100 Thieves, Evil Geniuses, and Gen.G.
Hardly anything seemed to go wrong for Liquid on Vertigo when NAF was involved, as the Canadian put up consecutive quad-kills to get the North American side an early lead and he continued to run rampant throughout the first half. A three-round streak was almost all FURIA could put on the table, as a 1v2 and a triple later in the half saw NAF as the point man in Liquid's dominant offense worth 11 rounds.
A 1v2 clutch from Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato in response gave the Brazilians the first three rounds when the second half started, but Liquid quickly seized back control when NAF stepped up to the plate again with two AWP openings. From there, nitr0 & co. were able to pick up a series lead comfortably after a couple of close rounds went their way.
With NAF more on the sidelines this time, Liquid still looked comfortable on Nuke after they didn't let FURIA capitalize on a pistol round victory. A second-round forcebuy win gave the North American representatives the momentum they needed to take control of the first half, during which they never let arT's side string rounds together thanks to heroics from nitr0 in separate 3v5 and 2v5 scenarios on the upper site.
A 10-5 scoreline on the Terrorist side meant Liquid had enough of a cushion to withstand a good run from their opponents early in the second half. Soon, they tightened up the defense, ensuring a closing without too much drama at 16-10, 2-0.
