Liquid defeat TeamOne; to face FURIA in DreamHack Open Summer North America grand final
Liquid will face FURIA in the DreamHack Open Summer North America grand final after defeating TeamOne 2-0 on Dust2 (16-12) and Inferno (16-5).
Liquid continue their DreamHack Open Summer run with another clean slate, this time against TeamOne in the semi-finals, after beating Ze Pug Godz and Chaos 2-0 in the group stage. They will now face FURIA, who also won their three matches played so far, in the final on Sunday.
Liquid won the first pistol round in the series on the attacking side of Dust2, but doubles by Matheus "pesadelo" Panisset and Matheus "prt" Scuvero with Desert Eagles made it 1-1. TeamOne then won a scrappy third round, but were unable to stabilize as Liquid tied it back up 2-2 and went on to control the economy early on. Liquid made it a seven-round streak, going up 8-2 after ten rounds and securing a solid lead at the half, allowing the Brazilian squad just three more rounds before switching sides.
TeamOne didn’t let the map slip out of reach in the second half, winning the pistol round and the two following rounds to make it 8-10. Three big AWP kills by Jake "Stewie2K" Yip on long secured the first round of the second half for Liquid after which the North American squad then charged ahead to 13-9 before TeamOne could retaliate with a successful B play. They followed up to hit double digits and start to close the gap, fighting back to 12-14, but were eventually shut down as Liquid won the first map 16-12.

TeamOne got ahead on the defending side of Inferno winning the pistol round. Despite going up 3-0 a single round loss put the Brazilians on an eco, which Liquid were able to convert on going on to tie it up the following round, 3-3. They then kept the momentum going as TeamOne struggled to contain the attacks, outmaneuvering the defenders every round to an 11-3 lead before losing the last round of the half.
Pedro "Maluk3" Campos and company once again won the pistol round, making it their third in the series, but ran into a wall on B the following round as Michael "Grim" Wince and Stewie2K downed two each with pistols to put another nail in TeamOne’s coffin. Liquid then went on to win the map out, 16-5, to secure a spot in the grand final against FURIA.
