DreamHack Open Fall to serve as European RMR event

DreamHack has announced that it will host the Fall European Regional Major Ranking tournament in October.

DreamHack Open Fall will take place on October 15-25 and have $115,000 in prizemoney on offer on top of points towards the Regional Major Ranking, which will determine eleven spots at the next Major tournament.

The organizers have revealed that teams already ranked in the RMR circuit have until the deadline on September 9 to submit their rosters, in order for their invite eligibility to be determined.

Vitality lead the European RMR with 3,535 points

The qualifying process to the tournament will begin on September 18-20 with the open part, followed by closed qualifiers on September 22-25.

The main event itself will have 16 participants and begin with a GSL group stage featuring four groups, from which the top-two teams will move on to the upper bracket and the third-placed side to the lower bracket of the double-elimination playoffs.

Below you can see the RMR points distribution for DreamHack Open Fall:

1. 2,500 points
2. 2,344 points
3. 2,188 points
4. 2,031 points
5. 1,875 points
6. 1,719 points
7. 1,563 points
8. 1,406 points
9. 1,250 points

12. 781 points
13. 625 points
14. 469 points
15. 313 points
16. 156 points

Assuming no more changes happen, Vitality are currently the only team who have already guaranteed themselves a spot at the next Major with nearly a 900-point advantage over second-placed G2. The rest of the standings ahead of the third and final Regional Major Ranking tournament look as follows:

Oh wow, an insult from a guy starting every other post with “yo le noob”. How does that hold any relevance to this discussion? I have most likely been around longer than you, that still doesn’t change the fact ever since DH masters was introduced, DH Open are at best a t2 event. Even ESL/DH agrees since the winners of Opens usually get a place in the next master, essentially making them qualifiers.

TOs were allowed to apply for the RMR events and then it was upp to Valve to pick the best one with a valve approved format and a date that fit the major circuit. So no real issues with MTG having 2 out of 3 (or 4) RMR events in EU, CIS and NA.

Cause No news of xyp and they need to lock the roster by sep 9th, so unless they Are sure he is ready, they Will have to drop 20 pct points and likely add bubzkji, then they need to do well to keep legend spot

they will probably just put him in the roster and say to him that he has to be ready by october 15, or they put him in the roster and if he is not ready they have standin and lose those 20% of points in that one tournament.

what i meant was that XYp needs to confirm about him coming back by then, obviously not be part of the team by that time. I mean, i dont suppose Astralis is going to take a risk of filing his name in there with him not actually confirming to be back.

coL could technically still make it if they make top3, while one of Heroic/Faze/OG finishes in ~14-16th positions.

How is CoL out already? They make it through closed qualifier, and then they win the whole thing while FaZe lose their group. Should be enough without a problem Dig on the other hand might ready be out, but still get an invite to closed qualifier because of results made in early March

It is as if each change just makes them worse Right now they got a decent roster, but their youngest player is 24... same age as the "old experienced" player in most other rosters. Only org in top 30 with higher AVG age is MIBR, and that's not a roster you wanna copy

doubtful since North, Heretics, Mousesports, x6tence, Movistar Riders & Complexity also will be invited. 5 spots for all those teams. For a RMR event not many open qualifer teams will get enough RMR points to even make a difference. You almost need to win to be playing the Major.
2020-08-27 11:04
0
2 replies
Well I guess all the teams up to Fnatic will have to play a 16 teams Closed Qualifier. That leaves 4 spots for the Open Qualifier, which is the norm for an Open Qualifier. Imo all the relevant teams apart from Sprout already have RMR points, so if they make it through the Open Qualifier (which I doubt they won't), no team will be left out. Furthermore, as you said, the Open Qualifier teams won't have a chance to qualify to the Major, but they already had the opportunity to participate to the two previous RMR, which they missed on. I don't think they are deluded enough to think they have a chance to make an impact, they know they're here to maybe win a match, get a bit of prizemoney, but more importantly get some vital exposure.
