mezii joins Cloud9

William "⁠mezii⁠" Merriman is the second player to join Cloud9's new project, joining countryman Alex "⁠ALEX⁠" McMeekin.

Cloud9 have announced the addition of mezii to their new squad after acquiring the 21-year-old from GamerLegion for $83,000. The Brit becomes the second member of the revamped Cloud9 roster after ALEX, who had already disclosed that another player from the UK would join the team, was announced on September 10.

mezii started to play with GamerLegion in May, leaving the UK scene behind, and has amassed a 1.15 rating since going international, which makes his move to the flourishing Cloud9 project a natural progression in his career.

Continuing his path in another international team, the 21-year-old will now be under the guidance of coach Aleksandar "⁠kassad⁠" Trifunović and in-game leader ALEX. His contract, worth $426,000 over three years, is effective as of today, although he will finish out the month playing ESEA MDL with GamerLegion.

“That’s like a good thing for me, that I can still keep up to date, like you don’t have that rustiness after coming back into a team after a few weeks," mezii said to Rush B media, "so, I think that’s a good thing for me that I’m gonna be staying active.

“What I’m looking forward to the most is just experiencing the whole package," he added in the closing question with Rush B, "playing with these players, playing at all these huge tournaments, being under such a great professional organization. I think that’s like the whole experience, I mean esports, an esports career, even if you’re the best, it’s not huge, it’s not a big longevity to it. I think the whole experience I’m looking forward to."
