cadiaN's effort not enough as Astralis beat Heroic in DreamHack Open Fall

The 25-year-old in-game leader put up some impressive numbers in this action-packed Danish derby.

Astralis got their DreamHack Open Fall campaign off to a great start as they edged past HEROIC 2-1 to join G2 in Group B's winners' match. In this clash between the current top two teams in the world, Astralis were made to work hard to come out on top as Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller fought tooth and nail to keep his team alive, finishing the match with a series-high 1.43 rating.

The match began with a banger of a Vertigo game as Astralis came back from 9-14 down to equalise the score in the last round of regulation. The first three overtimes could not determine a winner, but then Lukas "⁠gla1ve⁠" Rossander's charges won four in a row to lock down the map.

cadiaN was Heroic's top performer on all three maps

HEROIC looked a different side on Train as their double AWP setup with cadiaN and Martin "⁠stavn⁠" Lund with the Big Green proved very effective against the Astralis offense. After switching sides, Astralis still attempted a response, but HEROIC quickly got into their stride and wrapped things up.

It all came down to Inferno, where only one round separated the two teams at the break as recovered from a slow start to their T side. HEROIC came out of the break looking brighter and won three in a row to bring the scoreline to an 11-7 advantage, but then Astralis put up a resolute defensive performance and held the Terrorists off without much concern.

Logic is you can pick any individual map and say they played badly if their team got fucked... what is hard to understand about that? There are several series where both players have shit maps but pick it up in the other two, and there are also a few series where they have shitty series. Picking out 1 map where the team gets fucked doesnt prove any point?? The fact you have to pick out a bad map shows how good someone is.

OFcourse the same applies to dev1ce... i didnt say s1mple because i was talking about both. As to the ecofragging chart i got my statistics wrong, it was the same source as your twitter account but it only recorded it for IEM new york 2017 and i mis-read it. My point is dev1ce is great, definitly one of the best of all time, but s1mple just does stuff nobody else, he frags like mad on top of carrying his rubbish team- and he's done that on a few roasters with different teammates, dev1ce hasnt proven to be effective if he isnt with his core. Not his fault but still in my eyes it takes some credibility from him. Magisk and dupreeh have been sensational for just as long and some would argue are more effective than dev1ce. You can trust dev1ce to drop 20 but how often will he single handedly win games alone compared to Zywoo/s1mple?

man, vertigo was so much fun watching. But both teams especially Heroic just got so so greedy in overtime and it was clear they had panic comms. Last overtime Heroic got timed and bullshitted so hard :( nt CadiaN Train was a surprise. BEating Astralis on train is not bad at all and it shows their dedication WPWP :DDDD inferno, shouldnt have been played. It should have been a 2 - 0 from heroic if they just had a bit more luck in the last ot on vertigol :(((((

Is it only me or is it not kinda fishy that a washed up danish player gives up on his career comes back and playes like he is better than simple. In a team that got caught cheating using the coaching bug and the players said they new nothing about it. This was also at the same time this heroic became one of the best teams in the world out of nothing in cs first online era since they started to play on lans.
