BIG round out IEM Beijing-Haidian playoffs team list with win over NiP

A 2-1 victory over Ninjas in Pyjamas sees BIG continue their run in IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 Europe, becoming one of the eight playoff teams.

The last group stage series of the event seemed like it could go either way, as the opening map Vertigo went to BIG only after overtime, followed by two one-sided maps, Nuke and Mirage. However, it was the German side that earned the victory, finalizing the playoff team list for IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 Europe.

The playoff draw sees BIG take on Complexity in the quarter-finals of the single-elimination bracket, while other matchups are FaZe - G2, Astralis - Natus Vincere, and HEROIC - Vitality.

syrsoN was once again a thorn in his opponents' side

Vertigo kicked off with BIG taking a 3-0 lead, but Ninjas in Pyjamas fought to go ahead 6-4 on the CT side of their map pick. As Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz stepped into the spotlight, the German side took control of the half again. They switched to the defense 9-6 ahead, won the second pistol, and shrugged off the force buy, reaching 14 rounds quickly.

The map seemed done and dusted, but the Swedes pulled back all the way, with 9 out of 10 rounds down the strech, to secure overtime. BIG's defense looked better in the added rounds, helping them closed out the map 19-17 after two big rounds from Nils "k1to" Gruhne.

The first three rounds and an entry in the fourth spelled a good start for BIG on the T-side of Nuke, but Ninjas in Pyjamas pulled the rug from under their feet with some lobby aggression and started chaining rounds together. Fredrik "REZ" Sterner powered his team forward as they picked up round after round, with BIG mustering just two rifle rounds - thanks to clutches from Florian "syrsoN" Rische and tabseN.

Adding another pistol to their name didn't help BIG mount a comeback at all, as Ninjas in Pyjamas was again dominant with the rifles and closed out the map 16-7.

Good showings on the first two maps from Ninjas in Pyjamas didn't transfer on to Mirage, as BIG's T-side was overwhelming. syrsoN was leading the pack as they ran riot, accumulating 13 rounds on the offense, while k1to's Deagle quad kill in the second half brought the map to an early conclusion, 16:6.

it really depends on Poizon and K0nfig, if K0nfig keeps his form and Poizon don't fall asleep, Complexity will win the whole series.

This is true, but still Complexity will win. Just too much firepower after adding jks

It doesnt matter how good ur aim is, when ur flashed ur dead and col dont have the teamplay to counter that. Col will make it certainly close but the crunch rounds will go in Bigs favor as you could see in their recent gamed

Surpsisingly BIG is showing some kind of potential, the core of tabseN, syrsoN and XANTARES can build a TOP 1 roster without big of a problem I think. And I think it's time for changes in NiP, this roster just isn't looking good unfortunately. As for first playoff matches my predicition are : G2 > FaZe Astralis > Natus Vincere Complexity > BIG Heroic > Vitality

my boyz are just genius. They know with a win against mouse they will Faze Astralis and G2, so they decided to loose against mouse, because a win against Ence AND Nip will more likely happen than a win against Astralis OR G2. So just genius from my boyz ! Good luck in the playoffs °!
