NAVI take down G2 to reach IEM Beijing-Haidian grand final
The Russian-Ukrainian side defeated another big name in the playoffs of the event, earning a 2-1 victory in the semi-finals.
Natus Vincere were too big of a test for G2 in the IEM Beijing-Haidian playoffs as, after securing Dust2, the French-Serbian side came up short on both Train and Nuke.
Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev was once again a standout performer for his side, with Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy following up his stellar series against Astralis with another noteworthy showing, posting a 1.14 rating. As Natus Vincere head to the grand final, where they will meet the winner of Complexity - Vitality, G2 will settle with a 3-4th finish in the event they played out with Audric "JACKZ" Jug.

Natus Vincere got ahead early on Dust2, 4-1, but the map started going G2's way as soon as they got on the rifles. With JACKZ picking up an ace on an eco, the Europeans won seven out of nine rounds in the middle of the half, only for Natus Vincere to salvage it at the end with a couple of lockout Long and B holds (8-7).
Pulling off the A retake in the pistol saw G2 regain the lead, with Kenny "kennyS" Schrub being deadly on the AWP to push them to 13-9. A single round victory followed for the Russian-Ukrainian side before G2 closed out the map comfortably, 16-10, following a B push from Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač and JACKZ.
Egor "flamie" Vasilyev's clutch play on the pistol enabled a brilliant start to Natus Vincere's T-side on Train, going 5-0 before G2 got on the board by denying Perfecto's 1v3 attempt. The CIS side was just one round ahead (5-4) when they brought out their classic slow A crunch to get rolling again, finishing the half 9-6.
A fluffed anti-force-buy undid G2's good work on the pistol, with Natus Vincere running away with the score as a consequence, 15-7. A clutch from huNter- kept G2 alive for a bit, but the map was brought to an end after a s1mple double, 16-12.
It was all about Natus Vincere in the first half of the decider, Nuke, as Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy's troops tormented G2's defense, with a 3v5 turnaround in round four proving crucial to building momentum. Eleven rounds were on Natus Vincere's tally before Nikola "NiKo" Kovač's new team mustered two in a row, finding themselves in a deep hole nonetheless (12-3). There was no hope for G2 left after Natus Vincere locked down the pistol and the anti-force, taking the map 16-3 to advance to the grand final of IEM Beijing-Haidian.
