Astralis cruise past FURIA; to face mousesports in DreamHack Masters Winter grand final

Astralis breezed past FURIA on Overpass before bringing on Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen as a substitute for Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth on Nuke, which they were able to win without a hitch.

Astralis defeated FURIA to secure a spot in the DreamHack Masters Winter grand final with a swift 2-0 victory in a semi-final series that marked the first time these two squads met since June of 2019. The Brazilians were on the rise after a shaky start on European soil, winning six matches in a row after their initial two losses since traveling from North America, but were quickly brought back down to earth by Astralis, who won their map pick, Overpass, with an ample 16-7 score line.

The Danish squad then made a substitution after the first map, bringing in Bubzkji for Xyp9x to add an extra bit of aggression, which made this match the 22-year-old’s first appearance with the team since ESL Pro League Season 12 in September. The tide didn’t turn on Nuke, FURIA’s map pick, however, as they were decimated by Danny "zonic" Sørensen’s men who took the CT side amply before closing the map and series out 16-6.

Astralis will now face MOUZ for all of the glory in the last match of the tournament, the best-of-five grand final, which will kick off on Sunday at 16:00 .

device put in work in Astralis’ victory over FURIA, ending with a 1.66 rating

FURIA secured a 3vs4 retake on the B site of Overpass to open the scoreboard, but Astralis hit back securing the forcebuy as the two teams brawled for control early on. It was finally the Danes on the attack who were able to turn an advantageous economic situation into rounds on the board, with Nicolai "device" Reedtz leading the charge in the first half, which he ended with 114 ADR as his team took an 11-4 lead.

FURIA flooded the A site and defended the afterplant successfully to keep the game interesting early on in the second half as the Brazilians made it to 7-11. The story changed when Astralis got their hands on rifles, however, as they started to put up successful defenses. FURIA tried to break the hold time and again, but were instead handed a beating as the Danish squad cruised to a 16-7 victory to take the lead in the series.

Astralis brought over their momentum from Overpass, putting FURIA through the blender on the CT side time and time again, not giving Andrei "arT" Piovezan and company an inch to work with. It was finally on the ninth round that device died for the first time and the Brazilians were able to tally a round on a pistol buy off the back of two Desert Eagle kills by Henrique "HEN1" Teles. FURIA’s AWPer then got two more kills the following round, this time with the big green, but were ultimately shut down by Astralis who once again dominated the half, 12-3.

FURIA secured the second pistol round to keep the series alive, but much like Overpass, once Astralis were able to get their hands on rifles, they once again started to impose their will on the server as they closed the map and series out 16-6.

"Cry is free" is one constantly used sentence to users who are complaining about something. But what most people doesn't know, is that this sentence is actually a huge lie. As far as we know, tears consists of water and 0,9 gram salt per litre. And both of these ingredients are not free. Here I listed the price of 10 litre tears for the countries of the G8. I used the following formula (price is in US Dollar): (price 100 gram salt/100)x9 + (price 1 cubic litre water/100) = price 10 litre tears France: 0,20 $ Italy: 0,17 $ Germany: 0,19 $ United Kingdom: 0,22 $ USA: 0,18 $ Canada: 0,18 $ Japan: 0,18 $ Russia: 0,16 $ That means russia has the cheapest cry.

An underdog winning is completely different from an upset. I don't mind an underdog winning every now and then, but when a team that has no business winning against top tier teams does so on a regular basis - be it in Counter-strike or anything I dislike it.

No i'm not saying it's dumb that they play their style. But you have to agree, they won't often beat tier 1 teams with same tactics over and over again. Any team that has a brain would already know how they will play. This playstyle maybe enough for NA cs, but if they want to play vs tier-1 they need to do something new and adapt to the situation.

Yeah, I Agree. The problem of being too agressive is that if they make mistakes they’ll always start the round 4v5 against top tier teams like Astralis.... and they often did a lot of mistakes. They needed Guerri to adjust but unfortunately he is banned

if you watch astralis recent games they had clear strategy, they played liquid, elige was feeling it at the start, they just countered him at all the duals to make his confidence low and then took over game easily, now vs furia they did same, they knew art loves to play aggressive, they punished him hard and that gave them easy win, now last but least i bet we will see they will focus on ropz vs mouse, if they shut down ropz it will be a stomp for sure here !!

Damn what a performance from Astralis, they really canceled Furia's agression everytime and never really lost control. The substitution of Xyp9x for Buzkji was a perfect counter as well. Overall Dev1ce played like a beast, Magisk is free again and Gla1ve is back to his old tricks! Great to see and I hope for a great battle tomorrow vs Mousesports!

Probably Astralis bought the game paying with skins. The big cat is much superior.

I do actually think that mouz will win by slight marigin against Astralis, not becouse i hate them or smth but i think changing IGL during tournament is gamble it can always not work out as well as you want to.

But you have to remember that Gla1ve never really gave up his IGL role, obviously he did when he took a break but since coming back he did a duo IGL with Magisk so taking back the role fully shouldn't be any problem. Besides, they also have zonic which for me means that in every final where zonic is you already start with an advantage, he really breaks down opponents' tactics.

Ye but the fact that secondary calling is based on knowing only few calls(LESS THAN IGL) and giving ideas to the IGL how to counter strat the enemy. This means that Astralis converting to gla1ve mid tourney will be hurting team.

What a bittersweet game. I has a huge expectation when it started, and it ended up being a masterclass performance from astralis instead of a competitive match. All in all furia's path in this tournament was decent, much better showings than liquid.
