Virtus.pro deny OG dream run to win Flashpoint 2

The CIS squad has secured the biggest payout in the team's history, winning the $500,000 grand prize after an undefeated climb through the playoffs.

Virtus.pro completed a triumphant campaign at Flashpoint 2 after beating OG 2-1 in the grand final. They took their revenge for the single loss they suffered throughout the tournament to the European squad in the group stage, denying the Aleksi "⁠Aleksib⁠" Virolainen-led side a fairytale-like lower bracket run.

The $1 million competition is the first tournament the team around Dzhami "⁠Jame⁠" Ali have won outside of the CIS region ever since they signed with Virtus.pro, with their last victory of similar stature dating back to late 2019 when they were still part of AVANGAR and clinched the BLAST Pro Series Moscow title.

Meanwhile, OG have been denied a chance to win their first big international tournament for the second time in under two months, after they previously conceded the grand final of the European side of IEM New York to FaZe in October.

OG kicked the series off with a win on Mirage. Aleksib's side never looked out of control on their own pick once they got going on the Terrorist side with a five-round run, during which they kept coming out on top of all the late-round 3v3 and 2v2 scenarios.

Virtus.pro were left with little hope once they got just six rounds on the defense and also lost the first three of the second half, and OG didn't let their opponents come back into contention despite brief issues as CT, picking up the opener 16-10.

Jame's squad did not let the rather convincing loss rattle them and turned up on Train. They dominated the opening half as Terrorists off consistent openings and a couple of highlight plays from Mareks "⁠YEKINDAR⁠" Gaļinskis and Aleksei "⁠Qikert⁠" Golubev, and with 11 rounds to their name by halftime it was just a matter of time before they evened out the series.

Having won four out of five Infernos at Flashpoint 2, including one against VP, OG were likely confident going into the decider, but the map quickly ran away from them. Despite a close start, Virtus.pro clinched another 11-4 Terrorist half after they kept forcing OG to save their weapons in disadvantageous scenarios and looked to close out the series.

Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt and company made a grand effort in an attempt to come back on the back of solid output from the Frenchman on the offense, but in the end they were too far behind and Virtus.pro were able to find the few rounds they needed to clinch the title decider.

top tier team knows this is rigged and shit tournament trying to give fight other events like esl and blast, and the team who play for dignity over money do not fall for shit tournament like this, VP the Flashpoint champions but do not get surprised when they play in tourney like 9 to 5 or LULbet in couple of weeks and lose to tier 99 teams there :D that's why i love teams like astralis or navi or many other who dont give a damn about this much money tournament of flashpoint and choose to play other tourney rather than playing here :)

This tournament was organised for tier2 teams, they even don’t invite the top teams, because they have very important esl and dhs. So nobody didn’t have a choice. Most of participants here is founding orgs, and other slots for qualifying, so it’s support for tier 1,5 -2 teams.

may be do some research ? look what top tier teams replied when they tried to invite some at 1st season, dont get me wrong, 500,000$ for 1st is much money that any team would play for, flashpoint was not meant to be for tier 2-3 teams, they wanted it to make one of the biggest tournament single time in year but they failed hard, not only teams did not took interest but the organization of this tournament failed themselves hardly in 1st and this season as well, you saw those delay's and some fishy games out there ? its hard to believe that this shit is not rigged at all.

If make some research you will see that format is Not for big events, a few teams and actually 75%off teams from group stage goes to play off. Secondly delay was caused by positive test for coronavirus in kast, organisators was needed to move talents to hotel from studio. Additionally we have delays every major it is not something terrible for cs scene.
