Gen.G place roster on transfer list

The organisation is evaluating its options heading into 2021.

Gen.G has placed its remaining members - Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta, Kenneth "⁠koosta⁠" Suen, Hansel "⁠BnTeT⁠" Ferdinand, and coach Chris "⁠Elmapuddy⁠" Tebbit - on their transfer list, allowing the quartet to explore other options heading into the new year.

They are the second Flashpoint organisation to open up offers for their roster after c0ntact, who placed their entire lineup on their transfer list on December 8.

In a statement to Rush B Media, a Gen.G representative confirmed that the organisation would allow its members to look elsewhere, but clarified that the players were not benched and that it was not a "VALORANT over Counter-Strike" situation.

The remaining four Gen.G players can seek other offers

"We want them to see any offers as we go into 2021," the representative said. "We recognize that it has been a challenging period for professional CS, and we're looking at how the scene develops into 2021.

"In the meantime, we wanted to make sure to minimize the impact on players, so we have allowed them to keep their options open while still under contract with us." The representative also indicated that the organisation would be willing to waive buyout fees if the players wished to go elsewhere.

Gen.G entered Counter-Strike in December 2019, acquiring Elmapuddy, Damian "⁠daps⁠" Steele, autimatic, and koosta on transfer from Cloud9. The team later went on to add Sam "⁠s0m⁠" Oh and BnTeT, with whom they achieved a first-place finish at one of the only international LANs of 2020, at DreamHack Open Anaheim.

Following the transition to online play, the team faltered, initially managing a 5-6th finish at Flashpoint 1 and a first place finish in the North American division of ESL One: Road to Rio before exiting DreamHack Masters Spring in 5-6th.

Additional middling results during the online season led to daps and s0m taking their leave from the roster, with the organisation enlisting Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström and Rasmus "⁠kreaz⁠" Johansson for Flashpoint 2, where they were eliminated in the group stage. The release of the roster leaves the organisation's status heading into Flashpoint 3 in question, with the representative declining to comment to Rush B Media on the status of their slot.

Pretty much actually. It's irrelevant whether the best team is from the EU, CIS, NA or SA - but NA is just such a big market that if csgo dosent matter to American viewers, then it will have an impact on the economy of the sport as a whole.

Yeah, but CS is alive, because it creates revenue from regular players, thus continuously evolving and creating new content. Tournaments and professional players are just a form of advertising the game. And that's why the NA scene is required - to keep the local fans something to cheer for.

Bntet has been in prison most of his career. Replacing ISSAA would be an upgrade because at least he would hit his shots more consistently and he does have some fucking gamesense. Comms would still be an issue though, but still a massive upgrade.

To be fair there are far greater consequences then a playerbase. On the low end we're talking killing off the greatest rivalry in any esport..... NA v EU, & also viewership. On the high end we're talking loss of sponsors, org support (100T, TSM,etc) which also deals a blow to things such as viewership. We're also talking marketing, and probably the biggest issue IMO the purchasing power of NA. This alone affects Valve & orgs... Whether it's purchasing skins, and loot crates but, also buying stickers in majors. Orgs depend on "dumb" Americans to spend money. Eliminating that hurts the scene itself. We're not the MENA region lol. Anyways, losing NA just hurts the scene overall. Granted CSGO will be just fine just like CrossFire is in China... Literally the biggest FPS in the world with around 6 million concurrent. Yet, game is virtually non-existent in the states not sure about Europe.
