NiP announce "Young Ninjas" team, unveil first player

The Swedish organization has announced 17-year-old Erik "⁠ztr⁠" Gustafsson as the first member of their academy roster.

Young Ninjas is Ninjas in Pyjamas's latest project that aims to support grassroots competition. Under the name Young Ninjas tag, an academy roster is set to be built, with the direction of former CS 1.6 professional Frederik "⁠JAEGARN⁠" Andersson.

To kick things off, Ninjas in Pyjamas have acquired ztr from Spanish organization KPI. The youngster also represented Prima, and was the best-rated player of that lineup in the Swedish championship Svenska Elitserien Fall 2020.

ztr is the first player confirmed for the Young Ninjas project

The Young Ninjas project is a follow-up on Ninjas in Pyjamas talent program called "Path of a Ninja", which was unveiled at the start of December. The organization initially announced that they will focus on the step before players enter academy rosters or join top teams in the sixth man role, but have now stated that "future arrived faster than we expected".

"We are now announcing Young Ninjas: a team for budding superstars to represent - a rock steady home to bloom". Ninjas in Pyjamas wrote in their announcement, adding that they will continue working with their Path of a Ninja partner Area Academy — the company behind the Elitserien tournaments —, but instead of picking one or two players per season, the will "provide an Academy Team banner for a wider pool of talents to play under".

Area Academy's Head of Education, JAEGARN, will overlook the Young Ninjas. "A guy like Fredrik has been around forever, and the work with Area Academy just makes for the perfect skill set to lead this project for us", Ninjas in Pyjamas's COO Jonas Gundersen said. "The passion for youth development in him is great to feel."

ztr joins Young Ninjas after just two months with the Spanish organization KPI, during which he played only one HLTV-featured match with the team. The 17-year-old player recorded his first HLTV match in a King of Nordics tournament back in 2018, but has been playing the game for six years.

"There's great talent out there and I am very excited to already have Erik on board to spearhead the project", Ninjas in Pyjamas's Jonas Gundersen said about the signing of their first Young Ninjas player.

Jackinho is way to early to play in a team like NiP academy, he should play at a team like Lilmix for example fisrt. joelxd is insane, future of Swedish CS, Chawzyy is really good aswell.
