The former GODSENT in-game leader has returned to the organization he represented in two separate stints in 2011-2014.

Kevin "⁠kRYSTAL⁠" Amend has been transferred from GODSENT to ALTERNATE aTTaX, the two organizations have announced. With his signing, the German team is once again complete after changing three players ahead of the 2021 season.

The 27-year-old had been sitting on GODSENT's bench since mid-November while the European mixture were trying out Luka "⁠emi⁠" Vuković in his stead following some underwhelming results.

kRYSTAL completes ALTERNATE aTTaX's new lineup

ALTERNATE aTTaX previously parted ways with Marko "⁠kressy⁠" Đorđević, Sabit "⁠mirbit⁠" Coktasar, and Fritz "⁠slaxz-⁠" Dietrich, and added former BIG Academy duo Max "⁠PANIX⁠" Hangebruch and Karim "⁠Krimbo⁠" Moussa to the roster in early January.

This will mark the third time kRYSTAL has represented ALTERNATE aTTaX, having played under the German banner in 2011-2014 first in CS:Source and later in CS:GO. He will lead the organization's new roster, featuring a player whom he coached in BIG Academy in 2019, PANIX, as well as a former PENTA teammate Stefan "⁠stfN⁠" Seier.

ALTERNATE aTTaX's lineup now looks as follows:

I mean idk how affective Scrunk can be as a fragger if Krystal’s IGL.

I played often against him and spidii in 2013 they were respectively under enro Griffins and Eyes On U brand. And in my opinion Scrunk was really better on HS than everyone. So know i guess he got potential to be very relevant now cause his mind is free

I don't really think so. ScrunK sometimes has performances that really surprise you and he playsd a game with a K/D of like 1.8 carrying his team throughout a map and in the next game he looks like he would struggle against eagles. There's a rason he has been the coach of attax for some time, he is simply not a good fragger. Attax has traded essentially their three best players, for another low fragging IGL and two completely unknown variables. I wonder how this will work out.

Even as a player he could work with a solid Top 20 team. Yes he will always have bad stats but Godsent really had good teamplay and as one of very few teams even tried to get some pistol round strats going. I feel like they screwed themselves with this move.

Yeah but the problem with kRYSTAL is that he has not much firepower so no t1 team will pick him up as a igl because nowadays it's important to have a fragging igl (like blameF, nexa, tabseN,...). But he could easily join a t1 team as a coach with his big brain and win tournaments. I also don't like the godsent move but it's also nice that the jerman scene has him back again.

You mentioned the best examples why fragging and IGLs just don't mix well. TabseN dropped off massively since he started to be a real IGL in-game. You can literally see the point where he changed his tactical approach to the game, he lost like 0.15 rating. Nexa and blameF to me are no real tactical IGLs. You can see from the playstyle of their teams, they have set strats and concentrate on their individual game instead of multitasking. That's why they can maintain their good stats, but they always have to rely on their gameplan working out, the other players on their team to help out (like RUSH, I think he does at least 50% of the IGLing in-game) or the tac pauses to fix the mistakes in their team. Krystal is more like karrigan with worse individual skill but solid in-game IGLing

Yeah I think that if you are a "real" igl you are doing everything for the team (baits, calls, basically playing around players. tabseN dropped off in mid 2020, almost 1 year after he became an igl. I think the main reason for this was that he was exhausted and nor because he became a real igl. He had a tactical approach before he dropped off (maybe with the help of tow b). I have the feeling that you have to rely on firepower nowadays, even as a igl to win tournaments. Like gla1ve, arT or apEX aren't really fragging igls (at least not the star players of their team) but they are able to win clutches and rounds for their team, which I don't think kRYSTAL can do. Someone like kRYSTAL is playing for the team, does baiting, ... and he is very useful for the team like we saw in godsent. But in the end he has to hope that his mates can perform because he depends on them

Agreed. With the resources and the right balance within the 4 other roles on the team kRYSTAL is definetly a good enough IGL to compensate for his fragging in a Top 20 team imo.

Funny thing is Godsent kicked krystal twice, once in early 2020 and before they even went public with their roster change, they realized they do not function without krystal and asked him back. I wonder what made them think that things will be different this time around.

true and as far as we know they don't really have a competent replacement either. Sunny is no real IGL, he is more of a secondary caller, karrigan would be an option since they go to FPX, but they would have to battle with FaZe...

His twitter has been inactive for more than six months and before that has been only retweeting BIG giveaways, his facebook went 404 and the last pic on his instagram was in fall of 2019 and is a picture of smooya. I doubt he will make a comeback anytime soon, however I would really like it.

As usual, they grow an ego because they suddenly become top20 and think they could be better without the IGL. Seen like a 100 times and worked out maybe once. Let's see... In my opinion, the biggest weakness of GODSENT was alwas their individual inconsistency. That probably won't go away, so I think they already reached their maximum potential.
