IEM Katowice 2021 Play-inIEM Katowice round-up: NIP outclass Complexity; mousesports, Virtus.pro win
The 'Juggernaut' cut a frustrating figure against the red-hot Ninjas, while Christopher "dexter" Nong was able to beat his former team on his debut for the European side.
Three more teams have moved on in IEM Katowice Play-In's double-elimination bracket as Ninjas in Pyjamas dispatched Complexity, while MOUZ and Virtus.pro picked up close victories against Renegades and Wisla Krakow.
Ninjas in Pyjamas came into the game looking sharper than their opponents but couldn't get a stranglehold on proceedings because of some shocking errors. William "RUSH" Wierzba and Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke kept Complexity in it and prevented the game from getting away from their team, but then a quad-kill by Erik "ztr" Gustafsson destroyed the Juggernaut's economy and set the Ninjas up for a 9-6 lead.
More misery was heaped on Complexity in the second half as they lost the pistol round and the first full gun round to a 1v2 clutch by Fredrik "REZ" Sterner. One round was all that the international team could muster as Ninjas in Pyjamas quickly put the game to bed.
David "frozen" Čerňanský went huge during the early stages of the game to inspire MOUZ to a 6-3 lead, but then Renegades took control of proceedings and went on a 9-0 run. With no margin for error, MOUZ' stars stepped up to the plate to help spark a comeback in a close game that almost went to overtime.
Virtus.pro were in control for the majority of their T side and ended in control following a seven-round winning streak for an 11-4 lead. Wisla Krakow came alive after switching to the offence and cut the gap to just two rounds before Virtus.pro won an eco round and ran away with the game.
