Nivera steps down from Vitality
The French team has decided to return to a five-man roster.
Nabil "Nivera" Benrlitom has stepped down from an active playing position in Vitality, the organization has announced. The decision follows Valve's call to issue penalties to teams who substitute out players in the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) circuit, the qualification system for the next Major.
"Unfortunately, following the recent announcement, questions arose regarding the six-man format and we aren't feeling confident regarding the future of this structure," Vitality's statement reads. "Therefore, we are coming back to a five-man roster for the time being."
The French organization has not ruled out Nivera's possible return in the future in case the climate around extended rosters changes: "Nabil showed great talent and potential during his time with us and the door isn't closed to a comeback in the future if things were to change. We stay firmly convinced that a six-man roster is the best way to help the CS:GO competitive scene grow even bigger."

Nivera joined Vitality from Spanish organization Heretics in October as a substitute player and impressed in that bit-part role during the final months of 2020 as he helped the team to win IEM Beijing-Haidian and the BLAST Premier Fall Finals with strong performances in key moments of series.
But the Belgian talent, the younger brother of retired Counter-Strike player Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom, has averaged just a 0.93 rating for Vitality in 2021, down from 1.19 last year. The French team have also struggled for consistency, finishing third in the BLAST Premier Global Final and 9th-12th in IEM Katowice, and failing to make it out of their BLAST Premier Spring group.
Vitality are not the first team to alter their plans following the announcement of the roster rules for the RMR circuit. Last month, Astralis backup player Lucas "Bubzkji" Andersen said that the team "had to rethink the whole idea of a six-man roster" following Valve's announcement and that they were "trying to work on solutions around it".
Vitality's first showing without the 19-year-old will be in ESL Pro League Season 13, in which the team has been placed in Group B alongside G2, MOUZ, FaZe, Ninjas in Pyjamas and ENCE. Their first match in the group stage, against Finn "karrigan" Andersen's troops, is scheduled for Saturday at 19:00 .
With Nivera stepping down from an active position, Vitality's lineup looks as follows:
