FaZe eliminated from playoff contention in ESL Pro League following defeat to G2

Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen's side have suffered their third loss in the group stage.

G2 have maintained their spot at the top of ESL Pro League Group B following a clean 2-0 victory over FaZe, who are out of the running for a playoff spot, even in the event of a three or a four-way tie in the group.

Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković's troops bounced back from Monday's shocking 2-1 defeat to ENCE as they dispatched their international rival in a match that they controlled from start. Their third victory in the group stage was decorated by an imperious display from Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač, who dominated the server on Nuke and also had impactful rounds on Inferno to push his tournament rating to 1.26.

"He's playing insanely," Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač said of his cousin after the match. "He helps us a lot, not just with fragging. He's taking a lot of initiative. He's doing a great job and he's definitely going to keep it up. He's feeling it and his whole event has just been on point."

huNter- led the charge as G2 moved past FaZe

The first half of Nuke was all about huNter-, who took centre stage as he powered G2 to a 9-6 lead on the Terrorist side with some impressive numbers, including a 23-7 K-D, a 142 ADR and seven multi-kills leading to round victories. Audric "⁠JACKZ⁠" Jug sent G2 further into the lead with a clutch in the following pistol round, piling even more pressure on FaZe. karrigan's troops attempted to respond once they had money to work with, picking up a few rounds with multi-kills by Helvijs "⁠broky⁠" Saukants, but they were unable to keep G2 from locking down the map, with huNter- dealing the finishing blow with a 1v2 clutch.

FaZe came out on Inferno looking a different side, shutting out the G2 offense with ease up until the midway point of the first half. G2 then enjoyed a period of sustained dominance that began with a quad-kill by François "⁠amanek⁠" Delaunay, but FaZe tightened up in the closing stages of the half and went into the break up by three.

huNter- went huge in the second-half pistol, picking up a trio of frags with the CZ75, with G2 following that up with the following two rounds to restore parity at 9-9. Russel "⁠Twistzz⁠" Van Dulken and Marcelo "⁠coldzera⁠" David still tried to keep FaZe in the game with some great rounds, but then G2 went on a 7-1 run to wrap things up.

They looked better with Olof and mouse looked better with Karrigan. I think karrigan is better with younger talent. Time will tell but I think he should’ve stayed with mouse.

Olof was doing terribly right up until the end. mouz was doing terribly right up until the end. Everyone needs to stop looking at the first couple of tournaments and expecting instant results. Karrigan has stated multiple times that because of the addition of Twistzz and now working with Broky, who is a new person to him, Karrigan has to probably spend a lot more time with the players who still need to adjust to a new style of calling, but also (as Karrigan has also said) there has been a lot of change in roles and positions. Rain is not a hardcore entry anymore, we are seeking Karrigan and Rain playing more lurky than they used to, and so far I'm presuming it's just going to take a while for them all to start feeling comfortable with the change up. the only thing I might personally change would be a -cold +ropz, they both have a very similar playstyle, but as of right now cold isn't performing as good as I feel like he needs to (although he does pull of some sick clutches in important moments lol) Give them 1-2 months and you'll start seeing results. No teams should be expected to win after so few officials

Good points made here. I think that Twistzz has been looking good though, so it isn't a complete disaster. I think it's the playbook that's the issue right now, not the individual level

It's not the actual strategy and playbook in my opinion, it's the team taking a while to adjust to it. Rain no longer is playing the same position, Twistzz is now dealing with European style, and this is Broky's first time having a proper IGL, so there is a lot of change within the roster. give it time and I think these problems won't be there for too long

Honestly, rain has such huge consistency issues and cold has flashes of dominance but overall they can't compensate for karrigans shitty fragging. It doesn't go down to round difference because the tiebreaker scenarios get reset once one of the teams that are tied is eliminated. Check out the rules YNk himself has also confirmed on social media that FaZe are out.

BIG recently removed their coach, 36 year old tow b, with whom they had the most success so far, he brought a structured training plan and a lot of discipline into the team. now their coach is the 28 year old DuDe who most notably bottomfragged for alternate attax.. i wouldnt say they had no roster move when their most important piece just left the team.

Faze with karrigan is f** trash. He has so strong players too command. Hes job was to command them even if he doesn't bring firepower. And in the end, he is playing like total BOT and has no idea for team and other players.

FaZe is looking dead, I would expect more changes soon if those results continue, they had sometime already and are still looking dead. Sad. G2 on the other hand, is looking pretty good, they ofc. still need time to realise how to work it out with the AWP and stuff, but with some time I could see them being TOP 5 team.

Overrated IGL because he can't make faze play like a top5 team right away after two weeks. I am sure we will see a massive progress in the future - the next few months or so. Individually he had a good tournament, but getting the best out of everyone takes time. People forget that in the recent periode where mousesports didn't perform, they didn't even have a coach. When they did, they were nr. 1 in rankings, won big tournaments and played great CS. He took players no one believed in and turned them into world class players. He did that both in faze, mouse and to some extinct in Astralis. He is one of the GOAT IGL's for sure

Still you forget olof had to take breaks on and off, when they were at their peek, forcing them to play alot with stand-ins. They even did great with some of the them like xizt and cromen. They won alot, but fell at the last hurdle - the major. You are surely fakeflagging writing in English like a 5 year old and you have nothing to back up your arguments. After karrigan left faze's troubles continued and guardian became a shadow of his former self. Getting the best out of everyone and sacrificing himself is was karrigan do best. Oh and uh, Karrigan-wise - sure he is overrated, but by no means is he a trash IGL in my opinion. ALSO, people who expect instant positive changes are ZOOMERS. They expect any change to happen right away, on the spot with no regards to the process of change. That isn't how change works, nor is how an IGL works. Not to mention the immense fire power that he needs to control and implement strategically. Given a single similar task, a single genius has a higher chance of completing it alone than three geniuses put together. Why? Cause they are human, they have egos that might clash along side the fact that they need to set themselves up logistically. Takes effort, cooperation and TIME for things to POTENTIALLY work out. tl:dr Your expectations of Karrigan are ridiculous.
