Endpoint upset fnatic in ESL Pro League

The Swedes have their backs against the wall after losing their first two matches in the tournament.

Endpoint picked up their first victory in ESL Pro League's Group D after beating fnatic in a two-map series, piling even more pressure on the Swedish team, who find themselves at the foot of the table after also losing their opening series on Thursday against Liquid.

"This means a lot to me, considering my ban and being here in the big leagues," Robin "⁠robiin⁠" Sjögren said in the post-match interview before touching on their next match, which will be against Liquid. "I think if we play like we did today, we can definitely win a map or two against them. We just have to come in and play our game without being afraid."

Endpoint showed they can cause damage in Group D

Endpoint enjoyed a flying start on Inferno, strolling to a 9-2 lead on the T side off the back of great tactics and collective effort, with fnatic then managing to scrape three more rounds before the break. More misery was to come for the Swedish team as they lost the second pistol, with the international side quickly reaching map point. Maikil "⁠Golden⁠" Selim bought his squad a lifeline as he landed a triple kill in round 22 and broke the CTs' economy, but Endpoint secured the game once they had rifles again. Joey "⁠CRUC1AL⁠" Steusel put in great numbers on both sides, finishing the game with a 26-15 K/D and a 1.68 rating.

fnatic had no problem entering the bombsites and planting the bomb on Overpass, but robiin and Kia "⁠Surreal⁠" Man won five 1vsX clutches in their retake attempts, helping their team to secure a 9-6 advantage.

Back-and-forth rounds in the second half ended with Endpoint ahead as they were able to break the CTs' economy. The Swedes chained three in a row later in the half, but just when they were starting to gain momentum, Max "⁠MiGHTYMAX⁠" Heath's troops strung two rounds together, leaving the CTs' economy in shambles, and they didn't let the opportunity to close the series go to waste.
