Perfect World to host Asian RMR event

The eight-team tournament will take place in April-May and serve as the first Asian Regional Major Ranking (RMR) event of the year.

The company behind events such as CS:GO Asia Championships 2019 and the game's official distributor in mainland China, Perfect World, will be running the first Asian RMR event for 2021 - PWL CS:GO Season 1.

Scheduled for April 14 - May 3, the event will feature a $100,000 prize pool and play a part in determining the single Asian representative at the PGL Stockholm Major in October. PWL CS:GO Season 1's announcement follows the unveiling of the North American RMR event, which will kick off in May.

Open qualifiers for PWL CS:GO Season 1 start on April 14

A total of eight teams will take part in the main part of the Asian event, with four of them handed direct invites to the tournament, including the highest-placed team in the 2020 RMR circuit TYLOO. As a reward for their last-year efforts, the Chinese powerhouse will start the partially reset circuit with a minimal, 100 RMR point lead, while 1600 points are up for grabs for the winner of PWL CS:GO Season 1.

Joining TYLOO in the group stage are rivals ViCi, as well as Mongolian side Renewal and JiaMing "DeStRoYeR" Gu's Invictus. The final four slots will be decided through two open qualifiers which will take place on April 14-17.

Team list for the event:

China TYLOO
Mongolia Renewal

Just 8 teams ? C'mon its the regional RMR, 16 would be a minimum. If you want to develop CS in Asia, be more competitive and let talents emerge..

exactly.. its China RMR.. it was obliged it would go that way with chinese organizers.. Valve are braindead on this, now there is just 3 slots for Oceania, MiddleEast , Korea, Japan, Phillipina, etc.. I hope someone will point this out to Valve cuz its a disgrace.

teams like Bren, NG, Zigma, Beyond and that 1 middle east team are competing against 3,4 Mongolian decent teams. Sadly we are gonna see only 2 of them in the RMR qualifier

Yo le noob, Actually way more teams will be competing, through 2 group stages. The only thing is I don't get if the 4 invited teams are for the second group stage or playoff invites. If it's second GS then yeah it kinda sucks to have invited Invictus.

Yo le noob, "A total of eight teams will take part in the main part of the Asian event, with four of them handed direct invites to the tournament" "Joining TYLOO in the group stage..." 8 teams in group stage apparently, then second stage will probably be upper/lower bracket series and then the finals with lower b finals on 1st day / grand final 2nd day like i said in #73, perfect world is clearly protecting/helping chinese teams and pooping on the rest of Asia + Ocenia + MiddleEast
