floppy leaves Counter-Strike

The 21-year-old will transition to Cloud9's main VALORANT roster after the organisation put a hold on its CS:GO division in March.

Ricky "floppy" Kemery has stepped back from Counter-Strike and will continue his career for Cloud9 in VALORANT, the North American organisation has announced, confirming a joint report between Rush B Media and DailyEsports that was released on Friday.

floppy first picked up CS:GO in 2014, going on to compete in ten seasons of ESEA MDL before finally breaking through into ESL Pro League in 2019, a journey that took three years and culminated in an appearance at the Season 10 Finals with ATK, who saw to the elimination of North and G2 in the group stage.

floppy leaves CS:GO after playing the game for nearly seven years

ATK's strong showing in Odense led to Cloud9 signing the roster the following year, but the outbreak of the coronavirus kept the team locked into competing against domestic competition while their results faltered, leading to the organisation eventually releasing the roster, the core of which would go on to sign for Extra Salt.

However, floppy's services were retained for Henry "HenryG" Greer's European 'Colossus' lineup, a team that had mixed results as roster and role changes plagued them throughout the year.

Those issues, combined with the inability to gather the team in-person, saw Cloud9 put their CS:GO division on hold at the end of March, with Alex "ALEX" McMeekin, Chris "Elmapuddy" Tebbit, Joshua "m1cks" Micks and HenryG all recently announcing their departure from the organisation.

With few opportunities available on North American rosters, floppy takes his leave from CS:GO, raising questions regarding Erick "Xeppaa" Bach's future as he also remains on Cloud9's bench for the time being with no roster destinations in sight.

Does anyone else find it weird how the main characteristic you need to have to be a pro in Valorant is be a former CS Pro/semi pro and an org will sign you. I mean I know he was already a part of C9 but, he’s been playing Valorant for around two weeks now and is already signed? I think Valorant pro scene would be a lot more interesting especially in NA if 95% of the pros weren’t NA cs players, a lot of them are washed as well lol. EU Val will destroy NA imo.

Yeah true but I think CS still outnumber OW by a lot. I know like Faze and Sentinels were exceptions but it seems like almost every Valorant team are 4/5 Na cs players or 5/5. I thought this game would showcase more newcomers like EU has but sadly it’s not.

EU Valorant is pretty bad Imo BR > NA > EU > Rest But I think SEA is a region to lookout for.

Expected but in all honesty , a very sad and disappointing news in regard to the CS scene. He wasnt like any T2 or T3 NA player who never gonna be at the top to begin with , he was playing against the Top teams and performing as well. I just wish orgs would actually handle these players with care instead of disposing off them like a tissue or else we actually might lose a big whole region to this transition. Tarik and Xeppa to follow next , hopefully not.

Xeppaaa also just did the same thing, it's kind of obvious why. They are contracted to cloud9 for a long time. Floppy until Feb 2023 Xeppaaa until Jan 2024 Moving to c9's valorant team seems like a good way to keep competing, instead of hoping a team buys them out. I doubt they are particularly thrilled about leaving cs.

So many player (mainly eu) find themselves without teams and or orgs and are grinding for months even years to then get back on another team or find an org. These Na players cant go 1 week without it before taking the easy way out. Im honestly glad they are gone, with this mentality they dont deserve a team or org in csgo.

It's almost solely unsuccessful NA players who joins Valorant. Ethan is the only top player who left CS.GO for Valorant AFAIK. All the rest had either never been top player, or was beyond their prime.

it is sad. i liked the way he played and i have had hopes for his future. i think it is the money issues. it bad for na cs. it have huge potential for fans and sponsors but now it all goes to valorant. we can't say garbage leaving. it is bad for cs's master race spot.

Valorant, the game where unsuccessfull NA CS.GO players have a second chance of success. NA esport media fail to report this though, instead they are acting like Valorant players are stars on par with CS.GO players. Valorant has just about zero success outside US. Not a bad game, but having different agents in a tactical shooter is a bulletproof method of never excelling as an esport.
