BIG defeat Complexity to move on in Flashpoint 3 upper bracket
The international team will have to do it the hard way after being dropped down to the lower bracket of the Regional Major Ranking event.
BIG claimed a 2-0 victory over Complexity in their Flashpoint 3 opening match with wins on Nuke (16-14) and Dust2 (16-8). Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz and Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş led the way for their team across the series with consistent performances to make it three wins from three over the international squad in 2021, wracking up a 6-0 map score in the process.
The win comes as a much-needed boost for the German squad after a disappointing showing in DreamHack Masters Spring, in which they picked up a single best-of-one victory on the way to a 9th-12th placing. BIG now await the winner of fnatic and MOUZ in the upper bracket quarter-finals next week, while Complexity have it all to do against the loser of the aforementioned contest.

The upper bracket round of 16 contest kicked off on Nuke, a map which BIG had struggled on with an unflattering 27% winrate (11 maps). The two teams traded three rounds apiece early on before tabseN’s squad proceeded to take control of the map on the CT side, accumulating a further seven rounds compared to claim a 10-5 lead at the half switch.
A follow-up to a flawless T side pistol was denied by Benjamin "blameF" Bremer & co., who replied to pull the score difference back within one. Impactful rounds from tabseN single-handedly added two to the team’s tally before Complexity put together four consecutive rounds of their own, but the German side had the larger fuel tank as they powered on past their opponents to edge a 16-14 victory.
Complexity strolled to a 5-0 lead with a confident defensive showing on Dust2, but they let their foot off the gas moving forward as BIG came storming back with a forceful streak of rounds. blameF’s side could muster just two additional rounds as the German team seized the half 8-7. Proceedings went from bad to worse for Complexity as BIG kept the ball rolling to briskly secure the win with each player pulling their weight in a 16-8 scoreline.
