FURIA eliminate EG to set up rematch against O PLANO
The North Americans are still winless with their current roster.
FURIA have assured themselves of a spot in the cs_summit 8 double-elimination playoffs with a 2-0 win over Evil Geniuses in Group A's elimination match. The Brazilians left it late to snatch a victory on Overpass after shockingly letting a 14-4 lead slip, taking the map only in double overtime, but then ran out comfortable winners on Inferno, where they dominated from the start.
With this victory, FURIA will have a shot at redemption against O PLANO following Friday's embarrassing loss against their fellow Brazilian side. When asked about his expectations for the grudge match, which will have an upper bracket spot on the line, Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo said that his team will show a different attitude.
"It could be a lot of external things sometimes," he said about Friday's loss. "After today's match, I think we are really confident. It's not going to be the same match. I don't think anything is going to change whether we win or lose tomorrow. It's more about consistency. I think we've figured out how to play against them."

Evil Geniuses. who are the first team to be eliminated from the Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament, slumped to another defeat, their fourth in four matches since bringing in Michał "MICHU" Müller to replace Tarik "tarik" Celik. The North Americans will have a week to iron out their issues before another trip to Europe for a streak of tournaments that will begin with IEM Summer on June 3.
Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's troops came out the brighter on Overpass, but their lead would not last. FURIA tightened up once they had weapons to work with and immediately took the upper hand, finishing the half with a commanding 11-4 lead in part thanks to an imperious display from in-game leader Andrei "arT" Piovezan (25-12 K-D, 166 ADR and 7-1 opening duel record).
FURIA looked intent on putting the game to bed early as they added three more rounds to their tally off the back of a quad-kill from VINI in the pistol round, but Evil Geniuses began to chip away at the deficit once they had money in the bank. Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov excelled with the AWP, applying pressure across the map and getting crucial information, while MICHU had several multi-kills on the B site as the North Americans muscled their way back into the game and forced overtime - though they still had to be kicking themselves for letting FURIA get to map point on a shoddy buy.
Evil Geniuses continued to show their fighting spirit as they recovered from three map points down in the first overtime, but there was nothing they could do to prevent FURIA from running away with the game in the second set of extra rounds.
FURIA went for Evil Geniuses's throats on Inferno from the offset as they raced to a 12-3 lead on the T side, with Yuri "yuurih" Santos and Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato leading the charge for the team with a combined 26 frags. Owen "oBo" Schlatter single-handedly kept EG in the game with a heroic pistol ace that included a 1v4 clutch, but the Brazilians quickly gathered themselves and secured the map.
