jemi returns to starting lineup in HAVU

As Jemi "jemi" Mäkinen returns to the starting five, Taneli "disturbed" Veikkola will transition back into the coaching role.

HAVU has announced in a statement that jemi will be transitioning back into the starting lineup, after the Finnish organisation benched the 22-year-old back in June as they evaluated their options.

The statement went on to say that the time jemi spent on the bench was very beneficial, as he could manage the situation and social media pressure that had been building up. Before being benched, jemi had had the team's lowest rating of 0.85 over the previous three events.

jemi returns to the starting lineup

"We believe that getting benched was very beneficial for jemi. He got to process the situation at his own pace, especially the social media pressure that had been getting to him," disturbed said. "We had an opportunity to re-chart players who could fit our roster role-wise. It quickly became apparent that continuing with jemi is the clear #1 option."

During the time jemi was on the bench, disturbed moved from the coaching role into the starting lineup and played 11 official matches with the team, and HAVU finished 9th-12th at Elisa Invitation Summer 2021 and 5th-8th at Pinnacle Cup II. The 28-year-old will now be returning to the coaching role, making space for jemi as the team prepares to return to action on August 21 in the Finnish Championship semi-finals.

HAVU's current starting lineup is:

Finland Olli "sLowi" Pitkänen
Finland Jani "Aerial" Jussila
Finland Sami "xseveN" Laasanen
Finland Lasse "ZOREE" Uronen
Finland Jemi "jemi" Mäkinen

Finland Taneli "disturbed" Veikkola (coach)

Well their coach used be one of the best players in Finland in his active playing times and has a lot of experience. Not a surprise he's still fairly good as he seems to tend to play actively even though not competitively. Jemi on the other hand is a young possible up 'n comer who has little experience of the pressure that you are under when you play at the higher levels where you are visible to more people. He has less life experience to teach him that there is no sense in focusing online opinions and he is relatively new to the pro scene in Finland even so just getting room to take it in might give him time to advance tremendously mentally and possibly gameplay-wise too if he has had time to train on the areas he lacks on (demo review and learning things he has noticed he could do better etc.)

He is not interested in playing himself, it is not always about skill. And I don't know enough to comment further, there might be some other underlying issues but anyhow.. You can see how he performs after a longer time coaching.. That's your proof. You can also check his history on Liquipedia.

He retired from pro CS because they money wasn't enough to pay bills when he was playing as an pro. And yes, only 1 major, because one guy can't alone carry team to success. Just look at s1mple and zywoo, 0 major wins. CS is team game, not solo game.

Yes, and that was already well known before they benched him. No tier 1 or even Tier 2 players in Finland which they realistically could get.

Why would Havu a team that has some actual potential pick up a 14yo that would basically restrict them to play in t5 where events dont have a minimum age of 16?
