Copenhagen Flames sign pita as new head coach
Faruk "pita" Pita returns to coaching for the first time since 2019.
The Danish organization has signed the 30-year old in order to fill the hole left by the departure of the previous head coach, Daniel "djL" Narancic, in July.
pita was a professional player for several Nordic teams during the early years of CS:GO before making the switch to coaching in 2014 with Ninjas in Pyjamas, helping the team win their first and only CS:GO Major to date at ESL One Cologne 2014.
Following his departure from the Swedish organization eight months later, he joined CLG as their head coach. pita would eventually return to Ninjas in Pyjamas in 2018, where he would spend almost two years before being released from his contract. The Bosnian has been teamless since early 2020, most recently making headlines after being handed a 5.5-month ban from ESIC following investigations into the use of the coaching bug, which he has since served.

"I'm extremely pleased that we have been able to attach Faruk to our project," Copenhagen Flames Head of Esports, Daniel Vorborg, commented on the signing. "It's very difficult at our level to find coaches that can help us move to the next level. Faruk has a ton of experience, and just in a few days he is already starting to have an impact on the team."
Vorborg went on to address concerns regarding pita's involvement in the coaching bug scandal, explaining that the organization believes the Bosnian showcased a good character in handling the mistake.
"What Faruk did is not something we can align ourselves with, but neither can Faruk," he said. "We can all make mistakes, and while some are bigger than others, I think it speaks to Faruk's character as a person how he has handled himself since making his mistake – having self-reported it to Valve back in 2018, speaking openly about it, not dodging any questions, and appearing on shows to discuss the matter."
"Ultimately, despite the mistake, after talking to Faruk we believe and trust in his morals and his character as a person, and can't wait to build the future of Copenhagen Flames CS:GO with him."
Copenhagen Flames are now:
Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen
Rasmus "Zyphon" Nordfoss
Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard
Nico "nicoodoz" Tamjidi
Fredrik "roeJ" Jørgensen
Faruk "pita" Pita (coach)
