[VOD] HLTV Confirmed with ESIC Commissioner: discussing HUNDEN ban and other integrity cases

The show goes live at 14:00 and aims to provide answers regarding the widely discussed case involving Nicolai "HUNDEN" Petersen and HEROIC.

Ian Smith, the Integrity Commissioner at ESIC, will make his second appearance on HLTV Confirmed to give insight into the latest discoveries regarding the actions which led to HUNDEN's two-year ban.

ESIC Commissioner Ian Smith joins the show on Twitch

Smith took part in a HLTV Confirmed show in September of last year when the coach-bug scandal was rocking the CS:GO scene, and is looking to give insight into how ESIC approached the latest case involving HUNDEN. The Danish coach, who was previously banned for the coach bug abuse, originally claimed that his players were unaware of the exploit, but has recently changed his story and implicated his former teammates.

Time permetting, other ESIC cases will be discussed on the show: the Australian MDL betting bans, the Akuma betting fraud investigation, the FBI-involved NA matchfixing cases, and what remains to be released regarding the coaching bug report. Depending on the lenght of the talk with Ian Smith, the trio of panelists in Chad "SPUNJ" Burchill, Milan "Striker" Švejda, and Zvonimir "Professeur" Burazin will touch on ESL Pro League and recent news.

the question is: is there any chance?? You need first a little piece of "evidence" to start such an investigation. ATM I don't see a way to prove it. And Hunden as "witness" is very doubtable, even if he says "the other team asked for this" without any good evidence there is no chance.

I think they never even accessed the folder HUNDEN tried to share with them. I wouldn't be surprised if they baited him just to screw him up, since Nikolaj Nyholm doesn't like HUNDEN.

Not on the Google Drive anyway, but I don't think Astralis would bait him, it was probably more the other way around. I didn't know that Nikolaj Nyholm didn't like THE DOG. Do you have a source for that? Or a reason?

You mean that PR stunt? If he really meant that, he would've deleted the first tweet and apologized. He didn't. It's clear he had no love for HUNDEN and Heroic, as has also been reported by Thorin and Richard Lewis with behind the scenes info.

Apparently, HUNDEN agreed to protect Heroic and the players by taking the fall and pretending that no one except himself knew about the coaching bug. According to some rumors, HUNDEN then had a falling out with the management of Heroic and wanted to leave. Heroic didn't want that and offered him a car, an apartment, ownership in the Org, and also threatened him. That was too much for HUNDEN, which is why he blocked access to the Google Drive and as a way to "get back" at the Org, he shared the strats. It is mostly a revenge story. He protected Heroic and the players but then felt betrayed or pressured or whatever and wanted to harm Heroic.

ESIC are so stupid. Why didn't they punish vitality streamsniping? Oh wait they're a tier1 team and that wouldnt be good for the scene! Let's continue hunting top 300 aussie teams that bet on EU games and give them a lengthy ban. ESIC is the biggest leech i've ever encountered.

He literally just said "that bet on EU teams" The au players that were banned didn't bet on domestic games. My friend was banned for getting on a NAVI game and he isn't even a player, he's an admin for some Australian leagues and can't work in some of them because they're associated with valve.

no one noticed how he said something about NA cases still being investigated with some players fleeing to Valorant. NA deader than you thought. Other than that he has no idea about CS and thought it was weird to do scrims before tournaments. Because Man City wouldnt do that. It is very normal that coaches or players are sharing something about a smoke tactic for example with the public. (which is not what hunden did but still his view on things is very bad for making decisions in CS ban rulings)

ESIC "under-resourced" and "be patient" is all he said. Entirely funded by members (tournaments orgs) so your clownfiesta matches in tier 2/3 CS will continue 24/7 and any suspicions of match fixing will be thrown out.

I think hunden would have created new strategy docs or made a summary of strats post handing over resignation so that the same would be useful once he leaves and the fallout happened after Heroic org did not not allow sharing content.

It's sad and funny at the same time because EU kids were crying back then at CIS teams accusing them of cheating (GAMBIT ERA) while the ones who were cheating exploiting bugs and even leaking starts are those of EU and with solid proofs on top of that, what would you say right now dear EU fans after this scandal?

This is very interesting, I am a bit unsure as to how this procedure can be fully legal. "private" conversations that are not heard by a court, would like to hear more about the conversations between ESIC and Heroic. Oh well... we will never know I guess.
