FaZe take down BIG, set to face NAVI for first place in Group C

With NAVI the only team confirmed to advance to the playoffs, four teams will play for the other two spots in the final round.

FaZe have clinched their third victory in Group C at ESL Pro League Season 14, taking down BIG in a convincing 2-0 series. The final day of play of the group will see the Finn "karrigan" Andersen-led side take on Natus Vincere in a match that will determine first place in the group.

Although very much favored to advance already, FaZe are still not out of the woods as far as their playoff hopes are concerned, as they need to avoid a three-way tie with MOUZ and fnatic for second place.

FaZe relied on massive CT side performances from olof and broky

BIG got off to a poor start to the series on Dust2 after having picked the map, with FaZe clinching a comfortable victory on the opener on the back of a large early lead. The German side had trouble dealing with Helvijs "broky" Saukants in the opening half as the Latvian scored 21 kills on the CT side, helping his team lock it down 10-5, and FaZe went on to close out the map with ease after the second pistol went their way.

FaZe looked to make it a quick 2-0 when the opening stages of Inferno saw karrigan and company string five rounds together unanswered, but it proved a more difficult affair than Dust2, in the end. Multikills in key situations from Florian "syrsoN" Rische and Nicklas "gade" Gade got BIG on their feet, and an eco win later on made it only a one-round deficit by the end of the half.

But just when it looked like BIG could stay in contention for the series, Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer proved key to FaZe closing the second map comfortably, with the Swede ending Inferno with a 30-bomb thanks to massive effort on the CT side.

With just one round of matches left to be played in Group C, only Natus Vincere are confirmed to advance to the playoffs. FaZe are big favorites to join them on Tuesday, while MOUZ have their own fate in their hands, requiring a win over BIG to secure their place.

BIG, on the other hand, could still be eliminated even if they win the match against MOUZ in case they enter a three-way tie with FaZe and fnatic. Meanwhile, the Swedish-British squad rely on a win over Evil Geniuses as well as on Natus Vincere to beat FaZe to guarantee themselves a place in the knockout stage.

What is the tiebreaker? Faze won against mouz and big so should they be in the playoffs already? I mean if fnatic and mouz won and faze lose, these 3 Will have 9points meanwhile big Will have 6

Round difference doesn't come into play in any of the remaining scenarios. Everything comes down to head-to-head results or at worst head-to-head map difference now twitter.com/StrikerHLTVorg/status/143244..

So FaZe has literally 1 scenario in which they do not qualify, like 12% chance, but somehow it will happen.

Occasionally teams who are eliminated tend to overperform because they are playing without any pressure, I've seen it so many times. Fingers crossed that happens tomorrow

If FNC / BIG want to qualify for the playoff, first of all, they have to win the match tomorrow, then pray on BIG / FNC defeat to their opponent if mouz wants to qualify for the playoff, they just need to win tomorrow

"Meanwhile, the Swedish-British squad rely on a win over Evil Geniuses as well as on Natus Vincere to beat FaZe to guarantee themselves a place in the knockout stage." This is not correct though? Since its a h2h, fnatic just needs to win and BIG to win. then they both will be tied in 9 points, but since its h2h fnatic will win

fnatic won against BIG though, h2h wouldn't really work in this case? or am I thinking wrong that it would lead to round difference. edit: too late to even think about it, I will let the desk explain it to me like im five

If fnatic was in a h2h only against BIG, then yes, it would have worked like that. But in this case, fnatic would be in a 3 way tie with BIG and Navi. Fnatic won 2 maps and lost 3 maps against these 2 teams, so they would place 4th if the scenario at #29 were to happen.

For last round If fnatic lose: Fnatic out; BIG vs Mouz winner qualify, Faze vs Navi winner tops the group If fnatic win: -BIG vs Mouz loser out -If Mouz win, BIG out --If navi win, navi tops group; Faze, Mouz, Fnatic 3 way ties, Mouz win 3 maps so Mouz second, Faze lose fnatic so faze out. --If navi lose, Faze tops group, Navi beats mouz and fnatic so navi second, mouz beats fnatic so fnatic out. -If BIG win, Mouz out --If navi win, navi tops group; BIG loses to Faze and Fnatic so BIG out, Fnatic beats Faze so they are second --If navi lose, Faze tops group; Navi, BIG, Fnatic 3 way tie, BIG win 3 maps so BIG is second, Navi beats Fnatic so Navi 3rd, fnatic out. ============================================= Looks like Navi is safe now

And if faze lose to Navi, and EG and mouz win their matches (all 3 scenarios are quite likely), then faze is out. Feels bad for faze man 😐

If fnatic lose to EG they both out, BIG and Mouz are both 2-2 now so at least one of them will go 2-3 tomorrow and out. Faze will be safe if EG wins.

FaZe overall is a good team, but idk., it feels like in some matches they lack chemistry, like really, sometimes it just lacks like one good flash from teammate instead of peeking without it, I swear I saw that like 100 times when someone has flash that he could throw for his teammate to peek, but instead they peek without it, it's weird, but I feel like that loses them a lot of more rounds. BIG is a new team, it's seenable, but honestly they looked lost vs FaZe, maybe that's brilliant karrigan calling, idk., but they look outplayed every round almost. I don't see FaZe winning vs NaVi tbh., I feel like NaVi is way better when it comes to this micro-plays like just checking an angles with flashes instead of dry peeking them, those micro things make them much better team, so they are big favourites for me here.
