Virtus.pro win Pinnacle Fall Series 1, secure LAN Sweet LAN spot

The CIS side picked up the $40,000 cheque and a spot at the $250,000 Belgrade event taking place in April 2022.

Virtus.pro emerged victorious from the first Pinnacle Fall Series tournament on Wednesday, besting Copenhagen Flames, FaZe, and SKADE in series on the way to the title as one of the teams directly invited to the playoffs stage.

The Dzhami "⁠Jame⁠" Ali-led side left the other favorites, FaZe, BIG and Spirit, behind after they eliminated Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen's team themselves in the semi-finals, while BIG and Spirit fell to SKADE in the Bulgarian team's surprise run to the grand final.

Virtus.pro picked up a smaller title at Pinnacle Fall Series 1

Despite their impressive run throughout the event, the squad around Georgi "⁠SHiPZ⁠" Grigorov could not contest Virtus.pro in the title decider. The CIS side woke up after being down 2-8 on Overpass to clinch the series with relative ease from then on, winning the opener 16-11 and the following Dust2 16-8 without much trouble.

With the tournament victory, Jame and company have become the seventh team to advance to LAN Sweet LAN, joining FunPlus Phoenix, HAVU, MOUZ, FORZE, OG, and Complexity at the tournament taking place in April in Belgrade, Serbia.

No prize money for 3/4?

From what I understand play off invites dont receive money unless they win the whole thing, and the teams who earned money were invited in the first stages of the competition, so regional swiss stage top 8 receive some, main swiss stage win some, and the winners of the first play off round also win some, to encourage smaller orgs. These play off invites are usually big teams to boost the popularity of the event, but these teams wont participate unless there is big cash to fight for, so instead of giving like 5k for semis and 10k for the final winner, they just added all the prize money to the winner, so big teams are interested in the big 40k paycheck

Prize distribution in these tournaments suck ass. Skade grinding their asses since the first stage only get 4K for making it into the finals while VP playing only 3 matches gets 40K.
