NAVI secure BLAST World Final spot

With their victory at ESL Pro League, Natus Vincere qualify for the event which will take place December 14-19.

NAVI not only secured the ESL Pro League title and the Intel Grand Slam with their best-of-five victory over Vitality, but also a berth at the $1,000,000 BLAST World Final. They join HEROIC, who qualified with their victory at the previous iteration of ESL Pro League, and Gambit, who secured their spot with their success at the BLAST Spring Final.

There are still five spots available for the season-ending tournament, with one going to the winner of the PGL Major, and one to the winner of the Fall Final. The last three spots will go to the top-three of the BLAST World Final leader board, points for which are distributed to teams who participate in a set list of top events, with better finishes earning more points. The teams currently topping this leader board, and therefore on course to reach the World Final, are G2, Ninjas in Pyjamas and OG, in that order.

s1mple and co. earned qualification with a hard-fought win over Vitality

Natus Vincere themselves won the previous iteration of this tournament, the BLAST Premier: Global Final 2020, which featured eight teams battling it out through a double elimination best-of-three bracket for a share of a $1,000,000 prize pool.

Last year's event took place online, and the 2021 edition of the tournament is set to return to LAN, with the location to be announced. The format for this year will follow the two previous, using a best-of-three double-elimination bracket.

The next chance for direct qualification will be the PGL Major, currently set to take place in Stockholm from October 23-November 7. The team list can be found below:

The spot will be adjusted to the top 4 teams on Blast's rankings that aren't (NAVI, Gambit, Heroic). The system is actually very comprehensive and it's a good way to get all the top teams of the year to play in a high skill, small bracket fun to watch tournament. Although I think using Cologne instead of EPL would be better cause well it's 2x as important for most teams.

So let's say, navi vs vitality in major final and navi wins, then if navi is already qualified for blast final the qualification spot will go to vitality. Now if Navi vs Gambit major final, doesn't matter who wins they are already qualified for blast global final. So then the teams that lost the semifinals get the qualification spot? Who gets the spot then? Lets say vitality and g2 lost the semifinals. Will they need to play a bo3 to decide which team gets the blast global final spot?

We go down the leaderboard spots then. eg If Navi vs Vita final and Navi and Vita are both qualified via earlier events, and semi finalists qualified via world leaderboard, then you just go down the leaderboard. Also, the leaderboard situation comes only if there are empty spots at the end of the year. Say the event has 12 slots, and there are 12 qualification events thru the year but you only get 8 teams (due to teams winning more than one event etc). Then you look at the leaderboard for the remaining 4 teams. Say the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th qualified earlier but the 4th didn't, so one of the empty spots goes to the 4th TLDR: event winners get spot, look at leaderboard if spots empty by the time of event.
