Nivera parts ways with Vitality amid transition to VALORANT

The young Belgian has decided to pursue a career in the Riot Games first-person shooter after six months on the sidelines.

Vitality have announced that they have parted ways with Nabil "⁠Nivera⁠" Benrlitom following his move to Liquid's VALORANT division, where the 20-year-old has joined forces with his brother, Adil "⁠ScreaM⁠" Benrlitom.

The Belgian youngster had been sitting on the sidelines for the past six months after Vitality decided to return to a five-man roster in March. It was a result of Valve's continued unfavorable approach to extended lineups, which sees teams incur penalties for utilizing substitutions during and between Regional Major Ranking tournaments.

Nivera transitions to VALORANT to join up with his brother ScreaM

The 20-year-old's stint with Vitality was one of the biggest factors that gave credibility to the prospect of extended rosters. During his time with the team Nivera slotted in for either Kévin "⁠misutaaa⁠" Rabier or Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon depending on the map the team played in a match.

Vitality utilized the Belgian player in this fashion for five months, and he most notably helped them win consecutive titles at IEM Beijing-Haidian Europe and BLAST Premier Fall Finals shortly after his arrival to the team, resulting in the Frenchmen maintaining a spot at No. 1 in the HLTV.org ranking for close to a month in November-December.

The team's results and Nivera's performances dipped at the beginning of 2021, and the 20-year-old has remained on the sidelines ever since despite the fact that a spot opened up in the roster just one month after he was benched, as Vitality replaced Cédric "⁠RpK⁠" Guipouy with Jayson "⁠Kyojin⁠" Nguyen Van instead.

He was benched in Vitality for a reason, I don't understand why people say 'wasted talent', he has been on the bench for half a year and he had strong psychological problems... he even changed his steam name for 'suicidal' and right after that Vitality benched him... he clearly needs to be with his brother.

I figured as well. It wouldn't make any sense for him to switch. It probably is forced, maybe some peer pressure as well. I wouldn't even label him a CS reject, he simply just got unlucky for being a 6th man on a team got dropped because of no 6 man rosters for Majors. I think he easily could have joined a top cs team. Super versatile player, can even awp. Could have saw someone on G2 getting dropped and Nivera replacing. Heroic situation with most likely their players getting some sort of ban, along with niko on OG. Could have joined EG even as an awper if they -Cerq. So many options.
