Sinners stun Heroic in second Group B round as day two ends

Group B at IEM Fall is beginning to shape up after SINNERS surprised against two of the group favorites and Astralis survived matches against underdogs.

SINNERS and Astralis now sit in joint first place of Group B at IEM Fall following victories in the second round, which saw the Czech side bring down group favorites HEROIC on Vertigo while Emil "⁠Magisk⁠" Reif and company escaped a rather surprisingly close affair facing Movistar Riders on Inferno.

Meanwhile, Complexity grabbed their first win over Endpoint in the same group, now sitting in tied third place in the round robin at 1-1 after getting off to a poor start on day one with a narrow loss to SINNERS.

SHOCK led the way with 27 kills against Heroic

With wins against two of the three highest-ranked teams of Group B, Tomáš "⁠oskar⁠" Šťastný's squad could be on course towards an all-important playoffs finish in their first Regional Major Ranking tournament appearance. Currently holding zero points in the European standings, SINNERS eye a top-two placing in the group to increase their chances of qualifying for the PGL Stockholm Major.

They are set to face Endpoint and Movistar Riders next in matches where the Czechs will be favored, while their last round robin encounter will be against Astralis, who like them currently sit on a 2-0 record but have yet to play a tougher set of opposition in the meantime in compatriots HEROIC as well as Complexity.

The Danes are playing the tournament without their primary in-game leader, Lukas "⁠gla1ve⁠" Rossander, and have so far looked shaky at times but in control in their matches against the group underdogs.

Astralis' latest match against the Spanish Movistar Riders lineup wasn't the cleanest in particular, with the 42nd-ranked team taking the favorites nearly the full distance, but Danny "⁠zonic⁠" Sørensen's men maintained their advantage and closed out the tight Inferno affair 16-13.

Based on the 3 left to match up, coL are the weakest. Heroic is a though one to take into account. This analysis is fair when the group is over.

Sinners is really showing some kind of potential, like maybe this particular lineup won't be a solid TOP 10 team, but some of those players could get to that level, and it's really good for the whole Czech scene. I'm really happy with how it has been going for them lately. I'm really surprised that Heroic didn't take a W here, they looked really good even with the whole drama behind them but this is just something really unexpected and that's a legit solid upset for the Czechs. GGs.
