CIS Major representatives decided as IEM Fall reaches playoffs

Virtus.pro claimed the final Major slot for the region while Gambit secured Legends status alongside Natus Vincere.

Just like in Group A, Group B at IEM Fall CIS didn't come to a simple conclusion. In the final round of matches, Virtus.pro and Gambit trounced FORZE and Unique, respectively, and INDE IRAE squeezed past K23 to bring the three winners into a three-way tie.

Virtus.pro had the most to fight for in the MR3 overtime games played on Vertigo, but it was Gambit that breezed through both matches (4-0, 4-0), to secure first place in the group and a Legends spot at the Major. In the last match, Virtus.pro fought back against Vadim "⁠DavCost⁠" Vasilyev's underdogs and claimed a 4-2 victory to ensure a Major spot.

Mareks "⁠YEKINDAR⁠" Gaļinskis has been the team's hero at the event, putting in an incredible effort through IEM Fall. The Latvian posted a 1.43 rating over 7 maps played, averaging 101.6 ADR and 1.71 impact.

INDE IRAE were out of Major contention before the tiebreaker started, but will still be playing the fifth place decider against Spirit, who can potentially grab the Challengers slot over Virtus.pro.

Meanwhile, K23's Major dream was ended by Virtus.pro's playoffs berth, seeing former Major winners Dauren "⁠AdreN⁠" Kystaubayev and Rustem "⁠mou⁠" Telepov miss out on the tournament in Sweden. Despite good results in the two initial RMR tournaments, FORZE will also miss out too after failing to secure points at IEM Fall.

All five CIS slots for the Major have been decided before the playoffs of the event kicked off, with Renegades from Oceania being the sixth team to stamp their ticket to the event in Sweden.

Grand slam is objectively harder to achieve and it's not navi's fault that covid happened and no majors were hosted in last 2 years. But keep crying since navi is the best team in the world with more achievements than gambit. 🤷🤷🤷

forZe not making it is really really dissapoiting, honestly I thought that they could be the underdog of the Major, that they could surprise a lot of people there, and now they lose to Unique and they're out, such a dissapointment, I hope they don't do changes because I still think there is huge potential in this roster. Other than that nothing unexpected. GG to all the teams! You deserved it.

Yeah I saw that one, OverDrive is a valid source, but maybe it's a good thing, maybe it will get them some fresh energy, new ideas and stuff, overall I think 5 players should stay together, but maybe changing coach isn't a bad idea.
