Coaches warned against cheering on players at Major
Teams were informed that enforcement of coach-player communication rules will be stricter during the Legends stage.
A Tweet from Danny "zonic" Sørensen made the rounds following the conclusion of the PGL Major Challengers Stage as the Astralis coach shared that he would not be able to cheer on the players starting tomorrow.
Teams were already informed that physical contact between coaches and players wasn't permitted at the event, but the latest update from the PGL admin team clarifies that shouting is also forbidden and that coaches that don't stay quiet will have to be removed from the tournament area.
HLTV.org confirmed that the directive is not coming from PGL, but Valve, who according to zonic want coaches to sit in the chair and only do something during tactical [timeouts]."

Community reaction followed swiftly as coaches, players, and analysts criticized the newest instructions, with Katowice 2014 Major winner Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas claiming that "emotions are what CS is all about". However, freelance Esports Referee Michal Slowinski speculated that the goal is most likely to maintain the integrity of the game and stop any sort of nefarious information sharing between the coach and the players, and a consequence of the coaching bug scandal in 2020.
While the news comes as a shock to many who are used to seeing coaches such as zonic, Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira, or Damien "maLeK" Marcel fist bump their players or loudly celebrate won rounds, Copenhagen Flames' Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen noted that similar rules were in place from the start of the tournament.
A clip from BIG's game against MOUZ shows an awkward interaction between Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz and Nikola "LEGIJA" Ninić that implies that the German team was also aware of such rules, while Movistar Riders's Alejandro "mopoz" Fernández-Quejo Cano said that some coaches couldn't cheer from the first day of the PGL Stockholm Major.
The update from PGL Admin team reads as follows:
"Valve has instructed us to have stricter rules for coaches. NO touching the players except for timeout. NO shouting at all. Coaches can not even say "nice". They have to be quiet or we will have to tell coaches to leave the tournament area."
