PGL Major playoff bracket set: NAVI and Vitality to face in quarters

The bracket for PGL Major Stockholm's Champions Stage has been determined, featuring a number of tantalizing matchups.

Following the conclusion of the Legends Stage of PGL Major Stockholm, the eight teams that will head to the Avicii Arena and play in front of a live audience in Sweden have been determined, and the bracket has been set.

The two teams that advanced with flawless records from the Swiss stage will head up opposite sides of the single-elimination, best-of-three bracket, which will kick off with a match between HEROIC and Virtus.pro on Thursday.

s1mple will look to finally claim a Major title in Stockholm

G2 will then take on the last team that advanced from the group stage, Ninjas in Pyjamas, while Friday will see the clash of Gambit and FURIA — one where the CIS side will truly be tested, playing in front of a 16,000-strong crowd after being one of the most dominant teams during the online era.

The final quarter-final series is easily the most appealing of the set, featuring a brawl between Oleksandr "⁠s1mple⁠" Kostyliev and Mathieu "⁠ZywOo⁠" Herbaut as the tournament favorites, Natus Vincere, take on Vitality. s1mple's side will have their work cut out for them as, if they beat Vitality, their path to the Major title looks formidable, with possible match-ups against Gambit, G2, or Ninjas in Pyjamas awaiting in ensuing rounds.

A team like G2 can win against Gambit which have proven themselves to be hard opponents vs NaVi, but G2 generally never had a chance against NaVi in Finals, despite playing very well in the matches before

naa g2 would have good chance to beat gambit in arena lan, also vitality just seem to power up vs Navi because of the s1mple vs zywoo factor. or maybe navi level down due to pressure. Also virtus pro are 80% lan proven so would have good chance to beat Gambit.

Every team is tough in this stage so if they can't beat all of them then maybe they don't deserve the title

I don't consider it a classic Big Team vs Underdog final.. Astralis had experience and had won Majors before. If Navi are in the final, for example, they would be under more pressure than a Heroic or a G2, for example. Can you imagine the pressure s1mple would have to win his 1st Major? Or his teammates thinking that if they screw it up they will be the reason s1mple didn't win the Major?? Pfff...
