ESEA Premier Season 39 reaches playoffs

The regular season of ESEA Premier for Europe and North America has come to an end and the playoffs brackets are now set.

Eight teams from each region have reached the playoffs and will now fight for the lion's share of $50,000 and one spot in ESL Pro League Season 16 Conference. 18 teams were divided into two groups for each event, with the top four-placed teams moving up to the playoffs bracket.

The bottom-placed team from each group was immediately relegated to ESEA Advanced Season 40 while the 6-8th placed teams will fight in Relegation against the best teams from Advanced Season 39 later this December.

NickelBack led Entropiq to the top of Group A

Entropiq came into the event as the second highest-ranked team, topping Group A with six wins alongside GamerLegion and Finest. SINNERS rounded up the four teams going into the next stage, leaving behind DBL PONEY and the Polish representatives of AGO, Wisla Krakow and Anonymo. The new-look FORZE only managed to steal one win on their way to securing relegation to ESEA Advanced S40.

Group B meanwhile gave us a few more surprises. The Russians of 1win were ranked #32 on the eve of the event but topped the group with only two losses to their name. Joining them were Sprout, Copenhagen Flames and BLINK. Most shocking was Movistar Riders's failure to secure a playoffs berth after being ranked the second-highest in their group.

Eternal Fire had previously taken the spot of Sangal but did not compete after being unable to field an eligible roster for their matches.

The playoffs of ESEA Premier season 39 will be played using a BO3, double-elimination bracket:

Russia Entropiq vs Albania BLINK
Europe Finest vs Germany Sprout
Sweden GamerLegion vs Denmark Copenhagen Flames
Czech Republic SINNERS vs Russia 1win

As the highest-ranked teams at the event Copenhagen Flames, Entropiq, and SINNERS are favorites to go deep into the bracket but nothing is set in stone. 1win and Finest have already proved their upset potential and thus cannot be counted out of the race.

PKL's painN topped North America's Group A

The North American branch saw two squads rise above the rest as paiN and Extra Salt went undefeated through the group stages, topping their respective groups with a flawless record.

The Brazilians from Group A were joined in the playoffs by Triumph, Bad News Bears, and ChocoCheck as all three North American teams finished the group stage with six wins each.

Group B gave us a clearer hierarchy. TeamOne finished in second place, only counting a loss to Extra Salt while Party Astronauts only suffered defeats against the top placed teams, finishing in third place well ahead of RBG.

In a similar fashion to Europe, The North American playoffs will utilize BO3 games across a double-elimination bracket.

Brazil paiN vs United States RBG
United States ChocoCheck vs Brazil TeamOne
United States Triumph vs United States Party Astronauts
United States Bad News Bears vs North America Extra Salt

As the two most dominant squads across the group stages and the highest-ranked teams at the start of the event, one can expect paiN and Extra Salt to fight for the top spot ahead of the rest of the field.

But fnatic not in major is an epic fail. And maybe they are in pro-league because they are partner...not by they own merits...

they werent in Major because they didnt even play with this roster before it , lol . And they have been performing miles better than MR against T2 opponents as well as T1, gave a tough fight to Gambit too. Ranked higher than MR too atm.

lmao keep malding with this shitty results of your subpar team. Only reason why Riders became relevant in first place was because of Smooya hard carrying them in every game and he gets treated by getting kicked and disrespected by the fans of the teams. Luckily he found a place in a team with individuals as good as him and ones who actually play T1 tournaments , unlike MR who cant even make into ESEA Premier Playoffs.

Do you know that he is or was toxic in each team he is/was? He did a rage quit in a match... He had seriously problems with Steel. MR reached its highest rank without Smooya. And Smooya is tier one player (top 5 awpers).

People change man, Smooya himself said he was toxic but he knows better now. And Smooya claimed that Mopoz had a pretty bad work ethic in which he didn't like to improve which he didn't like. It's just one guy's word over another.

no , i am comparing two teams who have a common player . One which didnt appreciate his efforts and the other who has talented individuals to support him this time. I am happy to see Smooya got out of this team when h did.

Riders bench smooya to build a spanish roster (for fans, sponsors etc...) not cose smooya was bad or toxic, I'm happy he found another team and doing well but the true is: riders +smooya = nothing riders - smooya = Major and Pro League and the riders let smooya sign for free to fnatic, so please be more respectful

I can't be respectful when most of the Spanish fans and fans of MR weren't respectful to Smooya when MR let him go with statements of "toxic player gone" while ignoring the fact that he was the only good guy in the team and won them the games.

Well, smooya leaves the server before the match ended so maybe he is still toxic And as part of the spanish fans i can tell that you are wrong about us, we love smooya

we need small fantasy leagues that don't offer prize pools for these events, would definitely be a good way to learn that and have a little fun on the side.

CF have the same points too, so map win/lose ratio decides: Riders 0 - CF 2 Riders 2 - Blink 1 CF 1 - Blink 2 So: CF 3-2 (+1) Blink 3-2 (+1) Riders 2-3 (-1)
