The 26-year-old had been with the organization for over two years.

Renegades have parted ways with long-time player Liam "⁠malta⁠" Schembri, the organization announced early on Thursday.

The 26-year-old player originally joined the organization in December 2019 when Renegades signed the lineup of Grayhound. No replacement has been announced yet, with the team currently holding a spot at the IEM Katowice Play-In slated for February.

Renegades got to compete at one of the few LANs in 2021

While playing under the Renegades banner, malta took part in eight big international tournaments, and helped his team to dominate the regional Oceanic scene, never failing to win a regional event or qualifier.

Despite their domestic results, Renegades were never able to pull of any deep runs in their international appearances, usually only picking a single win. Their best result came at IEM Cologne 2021, which saw them take down OG 2-0 and later take a map off Natus Vincere.

For sure. I'd be prepared to invest in them myself: they always put up a good fight against RNG, and you could argue they're the better team. I'm honestly really surprised they haven't been picked up yet. But EPL should be the place for them to show what they have, and I think they're just waiting for a large org to make a good offer: lots of Aussie orgs have definitely tried to approach them

I wouldn't be surprised if Renegades dropped their team and wanted to invest in them instead. Imo they are the best AU team right now and I think they will put up a better fight in EPL, than a lot of NA teams. I'll probably bet on some of their matches, since the odds will be insane.

Ehhh, not so sure bout that tbh They got beaten by ORDER, and RNG have generally been better. I think the Aussie scene has a LOT of talent tho, and reshuffling the teams could be huge: Vexite Savage Ali +2 veterans would be a v v v strong team. But Vexite loves ORDER and isn't planning to leave anytime soon, and I imagine the other guys aren't necessarily going to be willing to jump ship
