In his first English interview, Rafael "⁠saffee⁠" Costa spoke about his big career move from paiN to FURIA and adapting to the tier 1 scene.

In one of a plethora of moves that happened in the top teams during the winter off-season, FURIA announced the signing of paiN's AWPer saffee, replacing Vinicius "⁠VINI⁠" Figueiredo on the roster as they were heading into the 2022 season.

It was a change many in the community and several pundits had called for, after the Brazilian side struggled with stability throughout 2021 following the departure of Henrique "⁠HEN1⁠" Teles at the beginning of the year. The addition of a new AWPer in saffee looked like a no-brainer, as he had impressed in his time with paiN and it was a position that needed to be filled by someone other than the ever-aggressive Andrei "⁠arT⁠" Piovezan.

A few weeks after FURIA announced the change, we had the chance to sit down with saffee while the team was boot camping at Relog Media's headquarters in Belgrade, Serbia, and talk to him about the big career move in his first interview conducted in English.

The 27-year-old late bloomer touched on his time with paiN before discussing joining his first high-profile team, and he shared what the adaption process has been like for him after making the move from a team that mostly competed in North America.

head to head matches aren't a great way to compare players for example oSee top fragged against Saffee literally a day earlier hltv.org/matches/2353730/extra-salt-vs-p.. another example of head to head comparisons not being a way to rank players is Navi vs MIBR, you wouldn't say that any of the MIBR players are individually better than s1mple, even though they beat him in a head to head. Performance against competitive teams is the only fair way to rank players imo

"how come ?" Furia is not good enough tbh. They play in NA. If they want to win big trophies and improve then move to Portugal or whatever and start playing and praccing against T1 EU teams. NA CS is WEAK. You have the dumpster fire aka EG, then you have coL and meh Liquid that is getting carried by oSee EliGE and NAF. And then you have Godsent that is decent.
