Boombl4 cleared to play IEM Katowice from tournament area

The Russian IGL no longer has to be in quarantine after testing negative twice for Covid-19.

Kirill "⁠Boombl4⁠" Mikhailov tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday and had to play Natus Vincere's first IEM Katowice match, a tight 2-1 victory over ENCE, from quarantine in his hotel room, but he will no longer have to remain in isolation.

Initially, the Russian player was expected to have to play the whole group stage from his room, as quarantine is currently stipulated to last seven days in Poland, but after producing two negative PCR tests and in consultation with local medical officials, Boombl4 is now allowed to rejoin his teammates in the tournament area.

Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool, another player that tested positive for Covid-19, has been unable to compete with FaZe at the event in Poland so far, as he tested positive before checking into the event's hotel in Katowice.

The Estonian, who already quarantined and no longer has symptoms, is now traveling back to his native country to avoid another quarantine were he to provide a positive PCR test in Poland. Were he to get a negative result upon returning to Estonia, he would then fly back to meet up with his FaZe teammates if they make it past the group stage.

After beating Liquid in their opening match, the international squad playing with Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage as a stand-in are now set to go up against fnatic in the Group B upper bracket semi-finals, one win away of clinching a berth in the playoffs.
