Gambit roster to compete in ESL Pro League under neutral name

The organization announced that it would not stand in the way of their players taking part in the tournament after it was banned from being represented in EPL.

Gambit have released a statement revealing that it would not hinder the possibility of their players participating in ESL Pro League under a neutral name, while Abay "⁠HObbit⁠" Khassenov confirmed that the team will compete at the tournament taking place in Düsseldorf.

The announcement comes after ESL banned what it defined as "organizations with ties to the Russian government" from being represented in the ongoing ESL Pro League season, namely identifying Virtus.pro and Gambit as the two teams affected.

The former criticized the decision but decided not to prohibit their players from competing at ESL Pro League, where Mareks "⁠YEKINDAR⁠" Gaļinskis and company will play under the name 'Outsiders.' Gambit's roster now follows suit, accepting ESL's terms — playing under a neutral name and without representing their organization or sponsors.

Both teams have since also removed branding and links to their organizations from their social media accounts.

It has not yet been revealed what name Vladislav "⁠nafany⁠" Gorshkov's squad will use in ESL Pro League. They are set to start their campaign in the tournament on March 23, when Group C kicks off, also featuring Liquid, GODSENT, BIG, Movistar Riders, and Party Astronauts.

Dude, I think CS:GO is little different from other sports. First of all, CS:GO orgs seem to be independent from the government, unlike traditional sports where the state fully sponsors the athletes. Secondly, there are no championships where countries play against each other, and we even have mixed Russian-Ukrainian teams such as NAVI. While I fully support banning Russian athletes from regular sports competitions, I don't think it's a good idea to do so in CS:GO.
