Heroic secure 2-0 victory over Complexity

The NA side managed to make the Danes work for it in the second map, but ultimately HEROIC emerged victorious.

HEROIC came into the group as favourites due to the issues currently plaguing Natus Vincere, and they set about justifying that status with a solid 2-0 victory over Complexity. Complexity fell apart in the second half of their map pick, Ancient, but gave HEROIC a run for their money on the Danes' pick of Overpass and very nearly managed to force a decider.

The game kicked off on the Complexity pick of Ancient, with the NA squad starting on the unfavoured T side, and they started strong to put HEROIC under early pressure; Paytyn "⁠junior⁠" Johnson picked up two impressive clutches to help get his side an admirable seven round half on the offense.

Despite winning the pistol and second round, Complexity didn't translate their good first half performance into the second period, with HEROIC finding success punishing their overly aggressive defence. The Danes were so dominant on the attack that they picked up eight rounds in a row to close the game out with a relatively comfortable 16-9 score; Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller was the carry force for his team, grabbing 31 kills and 118 ADR.

Moving on to the Danes' pick of Overpass HEROIC started on the T side, and they got out to a quick 5-1 lead off the back of a pistol win. Complexity clawed their way back into the half, once again with junior contributing an important clutch, only to throw a round to an eco just when they were taking control of the map; they did still manage to take a slender 8-7 lead into the second period.

The second half devolved into a messy affair, with both sides dropping rounds due to unforced errors; neither team was able to string together more than two rounds, with both squads winning with and losing to lesser weaponry at various points. Eventually HEROIC did grab control of the economy towards the back end of the half and managed to ride that control to victory, despite Justin "⁠FaNg⁠" Coakley posting another impressive clutch; the Danes took six of the last seven rounds to close the map out 16-14.
