Vitality to face MOUZ in final Swiss round for EU RMR A

Three final spots at the Major are on offer as the first Europe RMR event heads into its final day.

The third day of play at the first EU Regional Major Ranking event for PGL Antwerp has come to a close, with FORZE, Natus Vincere, and FaZe all advancing to the Major with 3-1 records following wins over SAW, Vitality, and MOUZ, respectively.

Meanwhile, Dignitas, fnatic, and Unique all had their Major hopes brought to an early end, exiting the event after falling in the elimination matchups as Outsiders, Eternal Fire, and OG kept themselves in contention. As a result, six teams are left standing heading into the final day of play, with three Contender spots at the Major on the line.

Vitality have the most difficult matchup in the final round

Kicking off the last day of the Swiss stage is a thrilling affair between Vitality and MOUZ, a series that is sure to be the match of the day. Simultaneously, OG and Eternal Fire will clash on the B stream for another spot at the Major, while the final spot will go to the winner of the match between SAW and Outsiders.

Notably, two Legends spots are still to be decided heading into the final day, one being decided via Bucholz seeding, and the other being awarded to the winner of a fourth-place tiebreaker. FORZE will have no choice but to play in that match for the spot, whereas FaZe and Natus Vincere both have a chance to directly advance with a third-place finish, depending on the results of the final round of matches.

Natus Vincere's only opportunity to automatically advance as Legends is a scenario in which both Vitality and OG win their final matches, leaving FaZe to take on FORZE for the final spot. Any other outcome — a MOUZ or Eternal Fire win — will see FaZe instead secure the Legends spot, with NAVI playing in the fourth-place decider instead.

The schedule for the final round of play looks as follows:

09:00 France Vitality vs. Europe MOUZ (A stream)
09:00 Europe OG vs. Turkey Eternal Fire (B stream)
12:45 Portugal SAW vs World Outsiders (A stream)
12:45 Russia FORZE vs. Europe FaZe / Ukraine Natus Vincere (B stream)

Izz juzz tuff up dere, man !!! I DOOO have high hopes for this Vitastrality project, but boy ... They've been tested so far! 😎 But okay ... I actually think that these players with Zon1c at the back are ENJOYING this "opposition" so far: They'll get a few issues solved ... and we'll see a SERIOUS contender at top1 spots by summer 2022!

If vitality pretend to be a top3 team, they should beat easily anyone outside of top5.

Is everyone going to ignore the fact that Forze don't even know who they're facing and thus have to prepare for 2 opponents, while their opponent only has to prepare for them? This seeding system is only getting worse.

It depends on the Vitality-Mouz match, right? If Mouz win, it's Na'Vi, otherwise it's Faze or something like that? Edit: and OG. Read over that part.

I'd love to see a system or a tournament where they just draw names out of the hat before playing straight away, giving no prep time whatsoever. Maybe not for the major, but something else? It would be interesting to see who's got the best game all around and who spends too much time anti-stratting. Think of the UK Open for darts, except for CSGO instead. Some small-name teams could make a big run through if the draw came out right

yeah, it would be interesting to watch, maybe blast can make this format but the best format is TI(dota2), 2 groups of 18 teams, they play with each other(2 bo1 each) and double-elimination playoff

That is a good format but it would be whether the viewers would manage 10 full-on days of CS I guess. It would be a very fair way to decide who's best as the bracket would be drawn quite fairly and it would take 2 shocks for a favourite to be eliminated

That's not how it works though. You can't fix a mistake with another mistake. The seeding is what got them this far, true. But you should at least have an equal chance in the match to prepare!

I talked about the seeding, not the teams, ENCE went through some favourites in that run, that was legit. They had some initial seeding, that was used for round 1 and 2. Then they used buchholtz for the others and since the matchups cannot repeat and after faze lost to big it made the path easier for some lower ranked team like forze/saw + it made the path for vitality and mouz really hard.

Buchholz isn't too bad normally, but it depends on the points system used which can be an issue, as seen.
2022-04-19 23:11

I do see why people are not happy but this format treats teams equally. Two wins is two wins for Buchholz score no matter if you beat Navi or Unique. You can't always match opponents based on HLTV ranks. If Navi and Faze beat their easier opponents, we wouldn't have match ups like that in the end. Valve couldn't give a fig about placing in other tournaments and I personally respect it.
2022-04-20 01:24

But you can't act like it's okay for Forze to not know who they're facing while their opponents can prepare for them. And if Valve doesn't care about other tournament placings, they're just opening themselves for a bad team in the Legends stage that's just there to get their ass kicked. Nobody will watch those matches. Also, it's not like Faze and NaVi lost against opponents Forze and SAW would beat. BIG and Heroic are notorious for doing shit like this in a group stage and fucking tournaments up. But they could've avoided it. Just get a seeding and keep it, instead of over-complicating things with Buchholz.

No one is robed of anything :) it is a qualifying. What matters is at what stage you qualify in! They both earned there legend spot. You can discuss forever who had the hardest path or best score. But honestly the system have WAY bigger issues than legend spot one and two ;)
