Eternal Fire and Vitality qualify for PGL Major, OG and MOUZ miss out

Eternal Fire secure the organization's first-ever Major appearance after overcoming OG in a narrow two-map series.

The Özgür "woxic" Eker-led side have booked their place in the Challengers stage of the upcoming PGL Major Antwerp by emerging victorious in their 2-2 pool match against OG after two close maps that went the full distance.

Meanwhile, MOUZ's match against Vitality saw them fall just short of a spot at the upcoming Major after putting up a valiant effort in a narrow 1-2 loss for Christopher "dexter" Nong and his squad.

Eternal Fire round off an impressive RMR performance with a Major-securing win over OG

Vitality's win also means that Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen is able to defend his remarkable run of playing in every single Major held since the game's release, having attended the 16 prior iterations of the Valve-sanctioned competition.

Meanwhile, FaZe have secured the third Legends spot on offer in the A group, and Natus Vincere will face FORZE for the fourth while Outsiders play SAW for the final Contender spot.

OG kicked off their series versus Eternal Fire with a quick 7-0 scoring spree to immediately put the pressure on their Turkish opponents. From there, Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş and company were able to bring themselves back into the game and score seven of the next eight rounds, entering halftime down only 7-8. The second half went the way of OG early on as they took the first four rounds, however an almost unstoppable run from Eternal Fire saw them come back into the game and narrowly win their map pick of Vertigo, 16-14.

The first five rounds of Dust2 were absolute dominance from Eternal Fire, before OG went on a run of their own to bring both teams level at 5-5. Both sides then exchanged rounds as the score line at the switch was a narrow 8-7 in favor of Eternal Fire.

The two squads kept it close as the score reached 11-11, then Eternal Fire were able to pull away from OG as they took five straight rounds to clinch map and series point. OG fought back relentlessly, but ultimately the spoils went to woxic and his crew who were able to claim both the series 2-0, and their place at the PGL Major Antwerp.

Nuke was the map of choice from MOUZ as they faced Vitality to determine which of the two teams would participate in the upcoming Major. The first period started off rough for dexter's squad as they saw their French-Danish rivals secure a swift 8-3 lead. MOUZ then began their eight-round winning spree which carried over to the second half as they comfortably took an 11-8 advantage. Despite the latter part of the half being more tightly-contested, it wasn't enough for Vitality as David "frozen" Čerňanský's 26 kills helped his team close out the first map and take a 1-0 series lead.

MOUZ were able to control the game early on Dust2 as their CT side performance stopped Vitality's advances into site and they gained a 9-6 advantage after 15 rounds. Coming out of halftime, Vitality were able to go up 12-10 thanks to standout fragging from Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut and dupreeh. In the end, Vitality were able to secure the 16-11 victory to bring the series to a third and final map.

Vitality came into Mirage riding the momentum of their previous map win as they took the first four rounds before further increasing their lead to a whopping 10-3 score line over their opponents. MOUZ's resurgence breathed new life into the game, as they won six consecutive rounds between to nearly erase Vitality's lead completely and sit at a one round deficit, down 9-10. Eventually, Vitality were able to fend off all signs of a late comeback from MOUZ to take the map 16-13 and lock in their place at the Major.

unlucky for mouz. both vita and mouz had the toughest qual. so stupid system and seeding. and the RMR A is so imbalance. meanwhile RMR B have so many nonames with 8 spots to fight

Well to be fair then RMR A also got 4 direct major spot + 4 challenger spots, where RMR B only got 3 direct major spots + 5 challenger spots

I kinda agree, but it will be uneven as they need 7 legends spots from europe since America got 1 (furia), so guess they made the one group slightly stronger and gave them 4 spots.

the groups were really 50/50 because of seeding based on results of Major and open quals. It went #1 to A, #2 to B and go on... So it was really unfortunate seeding for some teams.

still 8 spots. thats a lot. mouz/OG/fnatic could fight for them if not because of the seeding. meanwhile I can see the likes of Endpoint/Sprout/CPH qualify instead of them what a terrible format.

RMR B actually have more teams from top10 ranking, so it's not as unfair as you try to make it. Mouz, OG and Fnatic had their chances but lost and are out

The OT tie breakers was the dumbest idea i've ever seen. Can't believe it was actually put into play. The Swiss format is good, but the buchholz system that determines matchups is horrible. Lower seeds get easier matchups than higher seeds because the buchholz system tries to make it "fair". The seeding was also horrible. They didn't do their seeding right before the tournament started and the teams that were already in the rmr and didn't need to qualify for it were seeded a long time ago.
