BIG expand into women's Counter-Strike with equipa

The Iberian squad will make their debut under the BIG umbrella at the Impact League Season 1 Finals in Dallas.

BIG have announced the signing of Iberian CS:GO squad equipa, inheriting the mix's name to create their first women's lineup ahead of the team's appearance at the ESL Impact League Finals that will take place at the DreamHack Dallas festival from June 3-5.

The lineup, the core of whom have played together since 2020, have enjoyed modest success as equipa, winning a handful of ESEA Cash Cups and more recently, qualifying for the ESL Impact League Season 1 Finals through the online season in Europe by beating NAVI Javelins in the playoffs to earn their spot at the $123,000 event.

BIG Equipa face off against seven other women's teams in Dallas

The team will be coached by Jonathan "⁠MusambaN1⁠" Torrent, who formerly played for x6tence and Giants, as well as recently coached and managed MAD Lions prior to them withdrawing from CS:GO.

"I’m really looking forward to work with the BIG EQUIPA roster who are a perfect fit for us," Chief Gaming Officer of BIG, Christian Lenz, said in a statement. "Hopefully orgs like our friends from NAVI stepping into the female scene will motivate even more women to start playing on a professional level again."

Yes, Portuguese and Spanish languages are close, Portuguese can understand Spanish naturally, but Spanish people need to learn a bit to communicate. But Russian and Ukrainian aren't that close. Ukrainian and Russian share about 62% of their vocabulary and, for example, the lexical similarity between Dutch and German is over 80%. What happens is that every ex-USSR country learns / is hugely influenced by Russian, eg, TV programs fully in Russian. So every CIS team speaks Russian. Not a mix language, not kazakistan, not ukrainian; Russian. But yah lol. still weired that was BIG that picked them up, I tought one of the Faze / OG / MOUZ / Movistar, etc would pick them up.
